Bottle shared by TomHendriksen @ random tasting. Slightly unclear orange golden color, average sized white to off-white head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, hops, light pine surpringly. Taste malts, hops, again pine and sticky hop bitter. Decent body and carbonation. Quite decent.

As Stallhagen Pale Ale, bottle from Van Eetvelde in Lokeren, which has established some kind of cooperation with this Finnish brewer. Cobweb-lacing, egg-white, irregular, very moussy, dense head over a clear orangey blonde beer with quiet fizz. Pleasant aroma of biscuit, dry cake, chamomille, candied lemon, dried apricot, honey, fried egg, butterscotch, minerals, toasted bread, lemongrass, orange peel, dried garden weeds, some iron, some vague earthy presence (carrot). Crisp, ’clean’ onset, sweetish orange, banana and mango with a sourish edge, all well put in place, sharpish carbo (somewhat overcarbonated for the style), minerally and a bit numbing, adding a generic amount of sourishness, slick and supple malt body, caramelly and sweetish with a bittering toasted touch, just a little bit metallic perhaps but not in an obnoxious manner, nicely building a bridge with the hops in the finish, which are subtle and gentle yet effectively drying without becoming harshly bittering, a tad resinous, citrus peel-like and floral, aromatic and spicy; toasted malt bittersweetness remains after swallowing. I honestly expected less from this, and though it does feel a tad ’industrial’, the flavors are well positioned against each other; this is crisp, straightforward, quenching and creamy, just the way an APA - as I suppose this is the aim - is supposed to be. Decent example of its particular style: not overly ’boasting’ its American hoppiness, but instead laying more emphasis on biscuity maltiness, in a clean and enjoyable way. Quite nice, in all.

Pint from tap (as "Stallhagen Pale Ale" (6%)) at The Oak Barrel, Vantaa. Clear deep golden to amber with a modest, dense and lasting off-white head. Mild hoppy and fairly malty with notes of caramel, light citrus, tropical fruits and hints of herbs. Moderate to medium sweet with quite pleasant and balanced fruity flavours and a bitterness on the light side. Not too much going on, but fairly enjoyable.
