Bottle shared by Countbeer, thanks! Opaque black color, full sized brown head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, dark and roasted malts, tar. Taste malts, roasted malts, liquorice, tar, bitter. Decent body, medium carbonation. Solid.

Dark brown. Not much head. Oily, slightly burnt, a touch of alcohol. Rich, burnt sugars, touch of torched fruit. Kind of a simple character, but fairly intense.

Bottle - Dark roasty cocoa. Deep dark brown with a small light brown head. Dirty cocoa notes, overcarbed and a long light bitter finish. Not great.

Tasting at Matt’s
Black color, beige head. Dark brown color, near black, with beige frothy head. Aroma of cheap chocolate and tobacco. Roasted malts flavor, a bit sour, coffee, heavily roasted nuts.
Weird.

500ml bottle at Matt’s. Aroma is saddle, leather, roasted seeds. Taste is hoppy bitterness, burnt malt. Burnt malt, hoppy bitternesa aftertaste. Strange one :-)

500mL bottle, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma smells a bit off, with a slight sour note, and roasted malt. Flavour is heavy on the roasted malt, with some bitter dry cocoa, and an off-putting bitter astringency. Mind-boggling how this has such a high rating. Messy, incoherent and potentially infected. Not impressive.

Bottle, 14C. Bottle says 9% ABV. Black with a large tan head that lasts and laces pretty well. Aroma of coffee, roasted barley, under-ripe berries. Taste is surprisingly unlike the aroma, apart from coffee: chocolate fudge, coffee, orange blossoms, some pine. Slightly syrupy, but not all that heavy. Dry, somewhat powdery finish, bitterness creeps up a bit. A lot to like about this, but the aroma didn’t really lead me into the beer.
