In your hands, you are holding yet another hop monster of a beer brewed in San Diego County. Yes, we know this is hardly original. But, we love hops as much as you do so let's party! This beer oozes hop oils, aromas and flavors. We hope it's a worthy addition to the riche that is the Port Brewing family of beers. We look forward to this annual release each May and hope you will too.

Bottle from Brewdog, Leeds. Scared of rating this. It might get to know its only a 4.1. That would piss it off. And that’s no good. This beer can kick your arse. Easily. Frightening beer. Hard as nails. I’m off...

Cloudy yellow gold color. Massive rocky white head. Big pine hop aroma obscures a faint caramel malt nose. Flavor upfront is a big mash up of butterscotch toasted malt, sweet tropicals, vanilla and bitter pine hops. Noticeable warming alcohol. Grapefruit hops in mid taste. Finish is all bitter hops, long and tasty. More warming alcohol, as well.

650ml bottle from Bierkompass
Bottled 4/25/13 - Pours dark orange with a smooth white head. Aroma of chewy fruity hops, citrus and loads of caramel malts. Taste is strong, malty, caramely and sweet with notes of chewy citrusy hops, grass and loads of resin. Finish is strong, a bit boozy and bitter with sweet caramely notes, chewy fruitness and tangy citrusy notes. Massive and heavy DIPA with a surprisingly good balance. Quite good despite it’s not very fresh anymore.

660ml bottle shared at brewdog Birmingham. Pours hazy golden orange with decent head and lacing. Looks lovely in the glass. Big hop aromas, grapefruit, mango, resin and pine. Lovely. Big bitter taste, some warming booze notes, merest hint of malt. Non-beer drinkers in my company liked this! I loved it.

22 ounce bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 5/7/2013. Pours extremely hazy orange amber color with a 3 finger dense and rocky off white head with incredible retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big pineapple, tangerine, lemon zest, grapefruit, orange zest, orange rind, pine, floral, grass, light caramel, bread, and floral earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good complexity of hop notes with a moderate malt balance; and great strength. Taste of pineapple, tangerine, orange zest, lemon zest, orange rind, grapefruit, pine resin, floral, grass, bread, light caramel, and floral earthiness. Good amount of pine resin bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of pineapple, citrus, citrus zest, pine, floral, grass, light caramel, bread, and floral earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity of hop flavors with a fair amount of malt balance; and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium-high carbonation and medium bodied; with a very crisp, sticky, and moderately prickly mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very excellent DIPA. All around great complexity of hop flavors with moderate malt balance; and very crisp and smooth to sip on for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Draft - Sweet mango and tropical fruits. Hazy gold with a thin white head. Huge pine and bitterness along with sticky sweet tropical fruit. A bit too sweet for my taste.
