Lovely tasty Belgian blonde!
Hazed deep golden color with a fine white head. Good intensity in the aroma. Medium + body and a smooth carbonation level. Nice mellow sweetness and a bit oily texture. Wheat, banana, some spices, fruity and some Belgian yeast in the flavor.

Dégustation réalisée sous la dénomination St Stefanus en 75 cl (titrant à 7 % Abv). La bière Augustijn (Stefanus) est brassée dans le monastère des Pères Augustins de Gand à compter de 1295. En 1978, la recette est cédée à Van Steenberge qui met en œuvre une seconde fermentation en bouteille à compter de 1982. De couleur blond-ambré, la Saint Stefanus est parfaitement limpide et surmontée d’une mousse de 0,5 cm d’épaisseur. Le nez est fermé, sur des notes de miel et de céréales. L’attaque est quant à elle fraîche sur le céréale et le citron. En deuxième bouche se laisse découvrir l’amertume, fleurie, sur des notes de pêches. Celle ci est des plus agréable, et son intensité et sa corpulence sont très appréciables. Malheureusement, l’amertume retombe trop rapidement, et laisse place à un final qui, bien que long, laisse la bouche pâteuse par une concentration en sucre trop importante. Les arômes de miel et d’épices sont cependant intéressants. En conclusion la St Stefanus pêche par une sur-saturation en sucre la déséquilibrant quelque peu et ne permettant pas aux arômes de s’exprimer au mieux. Elle en reste néanmoins une blonde de bonne facture.

From tap at Mi2 and Cardinal as St. Stefanus Blonde 10.10.16. Cloudy pale peach colour. Off-white head and lacing. Aroma of wheat malt, green bananas and a hint of spices. Similar taste, with bitter tropical fruits, pale malt and wheat malt.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Pours hazy amber with little off-white head. Aroma of light bread, bananas, oranges, herbs, pepper. Tastes slightly sweet with balancing bitterness. Dry mouth feel, slightly bitter finish.

Bottle from speciaalbierwinkel Bodegraven Purchased end of september 2016, drank a few days later.Pours unclear amberblonde, rather small white head. Smell is yeasty , very dull ( muf ) not fresh at all ! Taste is full on sweet, yeast, taste old , somehow, yet the BBD isn’t really clear here... I assume 07/11/2019, but the nine is very unclear. perhaps it’s 2015 ? 2018 ? Tastewise , its most likely 2005. Tastes madeirized. still bit bitter,rather creamy mf. not bad, but just plain sweet, yeasty, madeira. If it is indeed BB 2015, it’s still quite good. if not, it’s tasting old way too soon. 02/09/2016 - 33cl bottle @ a restaurant in Ghent. Clear golden with medium creamy white head. Lots of carbonation. Nose is grains, medicinal. Taste is malty, not that sweet, light bitterness, spices.

Melko kirkas, vain aavistuksen utuinen kohtalaisesti vaahtoava olut, jonka vaahto katoaa kuitenkin nopeasti miltei kokonaan. Tuoksu on vahvan hapokas, hiivainen ja hedelmäinen. Maku hedelmäinen ja hiivainen, sekä hieman pisteliään mausteinen. Aika runsashiilihappoinen, loppujen lopuksi kuitenkin melko tavanomainen belgiale. Tämä pullo oli 7% ja Ratebeerin mukaan ei Tripel vaan Belgityylinen vahva ale, joten päivitin tiedot.

Bottle at home. Murky orange with a white head. Notes of herbal hops, caramel, yeast, spices and alcohol. Medium bodied, medium to high carbonation and a bitter-sweet carbonation.

0.33l bottle. This is a cloudy golden colored one with a nice medium sized white bubbly head on the top. It smells really bready, dough and a little yeast. Floral hints but a really mild nose. It's somewhat high on the carbonation and in the mouth it has a nice oily texture. Tastes nice also with a sweet flavor dominating the flavor profile. Soft sugar, sweet melon. A little Belgian twist and a floral dry aftertaste. Nice non compiled one. 13.02.2016
