Can (7/1/20) pour from Harvest Wine & Spirits, West Hartford. Appearance is opaque black with light sparkle at the edges of the glass, nice viscosity, a few light floaties, finger-width dark brown crackling fizzy head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is strong roasted malts and coffee, vanilla and maple you have to search for. Taste is strong roasted malt/coffee with sweet chocolate and vanilla. Maple is subtle at best. Mouthfeel is full bodied with thick, chewy texture, average carbonation and finish as taste with bittersweet finish. Mildest hint of alcohol in the flavor and feel. Overall, I like that you can discern the base stout but wish the vanilla and maple were more prevalent. Sweet dessert sipper.

Can from Holiday Market. Pours a pitch black that is quite viscous with a small brown head that dissipates. Lots of roasted coffee in the nose with light vanilla and toasted maple as it warms. Medium to thicker body on the palate with warming alcohol alongside lots more coffee, toasted vanilla and maple flavors. Roasty finish with some sweet vanilla and maple. Overall a roastier, full-flavored stout that is warming with lingering bitterness and roasted malt flavors. Maple and Vanilla come through but are definitely muted. This is definitely not a pastry stout. Solid stuff.

Can [from trade with thrashD] shared with Dutchdrebus. Opaque black color, average sized off-white head. Aroma is malts, coffee and vanilla. Taste malts, coffee, vanilla, chocolate, bourbon, maple. Sweetish a bit and moderately bitter. Medium body and soft yet decent and suitable carbonation. Very nice!

16oz can pours a black with some creamy, tan head. Nose is very mild, chocolate, malt, raisin, a little freeze dried ice cream. Like space ice cream. Vanilla too. Flavor follows, sweet with vanilla, chocolate, ice cream, malt, cola. Finishes off dry, creamy.

Can into a whiskey glass showing pitch black with half a finger of latte colored foam. The nose shows moderately intense roasted malt with lightly intense notes of maple syrup. The palate is light bodied and well carbonated. Lightly sweet with moderately intense notes of milk chocolate and a burnt bitterness.

Sample at the Hoof Hearted Brewpub and Kitchen. Pours an inky black color with some brown around the edges, and a medium tan head that recedes steadily to a wispy film. Small patches of lacing. Aroma of roasted coffee, vanilla and malt. Full-bodied with flavors of roast coffee, chocolate malt, vanilla and maple. The finish is sweet and roasty with a lingering mocha aftertaste. I’m all about fitness beer in my mouth, very good overall.
