St-Feuillien’ Saison is what the Belgians call a beer of the terroir, a traditional farmhouse ale with all the rich savour of the fertile land of southern Belgium. Saison, a warm golden blonde ale, is a top-fermented classique. Thanks to secondary fermentation in the bottle, Saison has an unmistakable flavour full of rich nuances and a slight tang. Saison, the latest in a long line of top-quality St-Feuillien beers, is a “hoppy”, unfiltered bee that is so emblematic of the rich Belgian tradition.

Hazy yellow colour. Bitter and dry. Notes of herbs and hops. But a little bit too sweet for a saison.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Hogerdijk, Culemborg. My first saison. Hazy orange yellow with a white head. Fruity yeasty aroma with some citrus. slighty tart taste with some considerable hopbitterness. Lively carbonation and a long satisfying aftertaste. If this is typical of the saison style I have to find some others, great beer.

Nice amber color with short lived towering head. Aroma of malt and caramel. Taste is grass, hay and butterscotch. Easily drinkable....

Bottle at home. Has a slightly hazy light orange colour with a frothy off-white medium head. Nice aroma of herbs, hops, hay, mango, belgium yeast and some spicy pepper. Malty and herbal flavours of hay and hops at first, and then a nice mellow finish with citrus. The mouthfeel is soft, and a light to medium bitterness. A very compact and nice saison. Incredible well balanced.

Bottle at Cafe de la Gare, Den Haag. Clear amber pour with a thin white short-lived head. Fruity caramel aroma. The flavour is yeasty with citrus notes with some bitterness on the palate. Quite a complex set of rich flavours. Very satisfying.

25cl Bottle: best before 15 June 2013, poured into a Westmalle chalice during Aug 2012. Slight haze to my golden/orange pour: off-white crown of thin bubbles. Fruit esters hit the nose, followed by yeast, malt molasses and some mixed spices: interesting. The taste is a lovely blend of flavours too: expected some farm yard feel to it and wasn’t disappointed, this had character in buckets. Malts, yeast and hops all vied for position and combined to produce a well balanced and flavoursome beer that I’ll be re-visiting again and again.

Doesn’t have much of a smell. Pours mostly golden with a little cloudiness. Has a little lasting head, though not a lot to speak of. Taste has a little wheat, a lot of yeast and a little barnyard hay bitter. The mild bitter stays on the breath after a while. Drinks very smooth. It’sdgecent but not super remarkable. 750ml Bottle from La Houblonniere (early 2012). Thanks for small and fast ship in cold winter. Wspaniałe i świeże piwo sezonowe, zbożowo - trawiasty smak i aromat. Mocno mętne. Piana wielka jak nieistniejące WTC. rozgrzewa w końcówce
