33 cl bottle @ ISKTR ’16, bottled 06.06.2016
Aroma has salty licorice and some peat. Flavour has cocoa, peat, salty licorice and tar. Rather salty but luckily in a peaty way.

Bottle (shared at Koht, thanks) + whole bottle by myself. Pours dark brown-black. Aroma is roast, malt, dark chocolate, coffee. Flavor is very sweet and bitter, sticky, roast, malt, dark chocolate, coffee, some fruity notes. Finish is roast bitter with some smoke. Feels thick and boozy, but not too bad for 13% ABV, so drinkability is ok-ish. Overall: decent brew, but feels way too heavy. This is enjoyable as Danish pint (small sample), but it’s rather difficult to drink the whole bottle by oneself. I thought I missed something when I had the small sample at Koht (I was a bit drunk at the time and later everyone was raving about this beer). Hence I bought a full bottle to see what the fuzz is about. I still don’t see it. This is a beer from the "more is better" style of thinking. I actually think my previous score (3.7) was overrate...

Almost black. Tan filmy head. Roast, smoke, leather, oak, coffee on nose. Medium to full body. The flavour is similar to flavour. Complex. Good. Not orgasmic anyway, too.

Bottle @ LIBF’16. Shared with the RB Belgian team. Ahhh teh taste of Russian WW2 ace pilots in a glass, wonder what Zuhkov would say about that one.

At LIBF. This must be my first ’literal’ RIS, as in: actually brewed in Russia, with label in Russian... Creamy, deep beige, stable head, jet black colour. Strong and pleasant aroma of coffee powder, lots of bitter chocolate, black pepper, nutmeg, leather, fig, raisin, shoe polish-like solvents, whisky. Low in sweetness, more of a soft, deep sourishness and meaty umami flavor, soft carbo fit for the style, thick nutty and bitter chocolatey malt body leading to roasted coffeeish bitterness, creamy and oily mouthfeel, rich malty roasted finish with warming alcohol, satisfying. Classic interpretation of one of my favorite styles.
