A robust and decadent body of chocolate and roast flavours is sharpened by punchy peach, grapefruit and pine from massive additions of Citra hops.

330ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with slightly late awakening, average, thick, frothy to creamy, fairly lasting and lacing, beige head. Piney, slightly citrusy, and slightly herbal, hoppy aroma, roasty dark malty basis, hints of coffee. Taste is dark malty, slightly roasty, hints of coffee, subtle sweetness, piney, grassy and herbal hoppy overtones, cautious hints of orange and orange zest. Nice, subtle complexity.

Bottle split at Reubens gaff, CPH, from Bottledog 21/08/15. Black with a well appointed tan covering. Nose is bitter roast, charr, spice, redcurrant, pine, earthy hoppage. Taste comprises pine needle, light roast, charred notes, lighty scorched earth, dark fruit rinds, dankish tunes. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close. Decent CDA.

Bottle shared with Colin in the Christian of the havn - fuzzy dark brown to black coloured pour with a beige head. Aroma and taste is a mix of roasted malts and tropical fruits, prominent hoppy, grapefruit, pine needles, some caramel, cocoa, roasted hoppy finish. Great stuff.

Bottle at home in London - picked up at the brewery. (Also drank on tap at the brewery.) Pours deep black-brown with a creamy beige head. Great CDA aroma, with rich roasted malts, accented with orange rind, grapefruit and burnt pine. Medium sweet flavor with more robust roasted malts, light smoke, some burnt toast, mildly juicy citrus fruits, subtle rind and burnt pine. Medium bodied, silky, with fine carbonation. Nicely balanced in the finish, with more roast, soft baking cocoa, light earth, understated citrus fruits, nips of bitter pine. Excellent.
I vastly prefer this bottle compared to what I had on draft. From the key-keg, the beer came across as a bit sweeter, with notes of licorice, and the hops were more herbal, giving the impression of perfume, and didn’t have the same citrus quality. As it is in front of me now, it is great stuff.

Draught at the brewery. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Roast malt, dark berries and raisin in the aroma. Flavours of dark fruits and citrus. A nice woody dryness in there. Tasty.
