Some beers just belong in barrels, and Flying Mouflan – a resiny, chocolatey giant of a barleywine ale – is one of them. We pour every drop we brew into bourbon barrels, taming the sharpness of the hops and uncovering layers of salted caramel, pecan pie and rum raisin.

Sampled from bottle at THT May. Near clear reddish, white head. Sweet grainy corn bourbon, fruity in a dried fruit sense. Sweet, medium bitter. Over medium body, greasy. Low carbonation. Pretty nice.

Bottle at THT May. Clear reddish brown with beige head. Massive bourbon and oaky vanilla, marzipan, light herbs, light chocolate. Very strong on the bourbon. Medium sweet with bitter alcohol. Full bodied. Quite nice but very one dimensional on the bourbon.

I didn’t addy is beer to database but I’m guessing it’s correct since abv matches although my bottle just says Oak Aged no mention of bourbon. Thanks to BMart for generous brews. Cherry amber pour small head. Nose is dark fruits, vanilla and spicy oak. Peppery spicy oak dominates the palate, some cherry and fig add fruit, vanilla and a touch of herbaceouness round it out. Touch hot on palate but in enjoyable way for this sipper. Nice lingering fruit and wood finish. Like it!
