Brugse Bok finds its origin in the German and Dutch tradtions of the seasonal bock beers.
The beer has a hazy brown colour and a sturdy foam collar. The orama can be described as spicy and fruity. A slight bitterness is typical for the pallet of this beer, yet tastes of caramel and raisins can also be discovered.
45 EBC, 15° plato.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ the local Plus supermarket. Red brown with an off-white head. Caramel aroma and sweet taste. Not a real bok, just an attempt to profit from the bok tradition. That’s fine with me but this is just plain boring beer.

One of those rare Belgian attempts at making a Dutch-style top-fermented bock, since 2010. Loose, off-white head, colour a bronze brown, clear. Caramelly and nutty aroma with hints of apple, cinnamon and liquorice, taste a bit of malt sweetishness, dried fruits and lightly hoppy tail, smooth mouthfeel. Too ’clean’ for me.

Appearance: Deep nutty color with a big white head that leaves a fine lacing.
Aroma: Fruity, caramel malty and some mild spices.
Palate: Medium + body. Mild round sweetness and a moderate bitterness. Also some pleasant acidic notes. Average carbonation.
Taste: Fruity, toffee, malty and some spices.
Overall impression: A mild pleasant round sweetness as it got warmer. Not so pleasant when it was a bit to cold.
Personal stats: Bottle from Miranda.

--- Beer merged from original tick of De Halve Maan Brugse Bok on 18 May 2018 at 10:36 - Score: 7

Ziet er uit als bok, echter heeft een heel eigen niet te vergelijken smaak. Lijkt in de verste verte niet op en bokbier. Eerste indruk is een visachtige smaak. Niet aan te bevelen.

On tap. Pours a clear amber with a light grayish brown head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has a good amount of sweet grains with a good amount of leaves and must. Flavor has earthy grains with a growing sweetness and leaves underlying.

Belgian take on a bock beer. Means a sweet caramelised malty beer with some spices and yeastiness.

Smells of chocolate, bit weak, high carb, spices, simple sugary sweetness. Taste is simple sugary, high carb. simple brown sugar & BE sweet, sweet spices, toffee,… Very simple & pleasing BE but enjoyable & way better than expected.
