An Imperial Porter, using Rauch Malt for a depth of smoke, a selection of Chillies for subtle smoky flavours and designed to light the fire under you, and a mix of both roasted and regular Rye Malt to spice things up further.

Bra krut!

On tap at CBC 2016. Pours bjack with a short off white head. Aromas of smoked malts, licorice, vanilla and roasted malts. Rich flavors of same with sharp roasted peppers and a nice warm finish. Sticky. Not overkill on the peppers - just right

pitch dark, smooth brown head. aroma is kinda overly smoked, and not just that, but also a mix betweeen bamberg meaty smoke and scottish peat smoke. it works out qute well. there is a stingy boozy alc. phenolic aroma note that seems to indicate this was taken too far with too few ingredients. Flavor is way dominated by the chillies, but the base beer is way too sweet even for the potent chili bite, way, way too sweet. almost as sweet as a mikkeller black. ( not black hole, that one was really good) anyway, imagine you took a texas ranger ( chipotle porter ) and exchanged most of the stout with brown sugar water and a dash of shenkerla (sp?) this might be what you end up with.

375 ml. bottle @ home. Pours pure black, dark mocha head, small & unstable. Nose is massive umami, licorice, syrup, molasses, herbal, very thick umami syrup, low chocolate syrup only on the back. Taste is thick umami, molasses & licorice, there is more chocolate syrup blended into the taste, faint almost dark fruits, illusion of blackberry, chili heat is low, far lower than expected but very slowly the heat builds (still little chilià. Body is pure syrup. Surprising amount of balance & restraint for a beer (of this style & ABV) that is this heavy on umami & licorice notes (massively so) with chili on top. Not the biggest fan of umami stouts / porters, I gravitate more towards the sweet desert kind but this is an interesting excessive in balance & restraint given the extremity of flavours. Catchy name. this one grew a bit on me.

(375ml bottle from Systembolaget) Pours black with a moderate head of tan froth and lots of lace. Aroma is definitely smoky, with chilies, smoked and even salt-cured meat, burnt wood, soy sauce, chocolate and roasted malts. Flavour sweeter than the nose, with a brown sugar and caramel core, sweetened coffee, milk chocolate, a little liquorice, toasted malts, smoky chilies. Both smoke and heat from chilies build up from the middle of the sip, partially drying the finish though sweet malt core remains. Moderately spicy finish, low roast bitterness and a little alcohol. Fairly full bodied with low carbonation. More smoke than I was expecting, and a bit more chili. Not as balanced as their chili stouts, due to lower roast.

A hazy brown beer with a tan head. The aroma has notes of smoke, roasted malt, and hops. The flavor is sweet with notes of smoke, alcohol, rye, and caramel, leading to a dry finish.
