A delightful braggot made from 2/3 honey and 1/3 dark barley malt wort, fermented with wine and beer yeasts. An invitingly honeyed and portwine like introduction is followed by an explosion of caramel sweetness on the tongue, that is balanced only by hints of roasted malt bitterness and strong alcohol backbone. With a mesmerizing plum fruitiness in the aftertaste.

500mL bottle, pours a deep dark mahogany with a medium beige head. Nose brings out a strange mix of roasted malt, red wine, plums and some honey sweetness. Flavour is similar, with lots of dried dark fruits, sweet dessert red wine, and some roast. Not a lot of actual honey here. Plenty of warming effect from the alcohol, which somehow manages not to be too brutal. It's far from an elite mead, but it's pretty fun.

Bottle shared at M&M’s. Bottle says 14%. Dark brown with light tan head. Sweet roasted rye malts, plums, blackberries, black currant, dark honey, mint and other spices. Big sweet and medium bitter. Full body and soft carbonation. Boozy punch. I learned today that a braggot is a medieval style consisting of 1/3rd to 1/2nd malt base and 2/3rd to 1/2nd mead base. Boozy as fuhuck but this is great stuff. Super fruity dry honeywine leaning over roasty malt base. --- Beer merged from original tick of Dravnieka Atraitne on 14 May 2018 at 17:11 - Score: 8
