Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Hazy, dark, cola brown. Film and a ring of reddy, tan head. Nose has savoury smoke. Prune juice. Some liquorice. Taste is rich, smoky sweet. Turns burnt, ashy bitter. Full body. Slick and oily. Bit too fizzy maybe. Lip and tongue coating sweetness on the finish. Closes ashy, woody bitter. Saline notes throughout. Big beer, that I imagine would get better with time.

Bottle from Appellation Wines. Appearance - deep black with a quickly disappearing head. Quite cola like. Nose - smoke, charcoal, salt and light chocolate in the background. Taste - black jack sweets, smoke, liquorice. Tar and salt again. Booze and chocolate come to the front as the glass goes down. Palate - rich and full bodied with a dry tight tangy yet crunchy texture and a long dry nut beautifully balanced finish. Overall - a really complex beer

Bottle from The Beerhive. Black body with a thin tan head. Good lacing. Aroma of salted caramel, dark chocolate and liquorice. Flavour of burnt wood and rich roasted malt with a salty edge. Medium body with a creamy texture. Soft fizz. Drinks very easily for the ABV. Nice, but less complex than I was expecting.
