This type of wood has characteristics of both American oak and French oak; beautiful vanilla keys paired with spicy oak keys. Through maturing these beers for six months in these casks, they get incredibly beautiful wood / vanilla flavors. Aged for 1 year on virgin oak

Kicsi, gyorsan elolvadó hab, egészen sötét barna szín. Édeskés, csokis, aszalt gyümölcsös, malátás illat. Enyhén édes, malátás, kissé karamelles, aszalt gyümölcsös, tölgyfahordós, picit vaníliás ízek. Testes, alig szénsavas, nagyon enyhén keserű. Mintaszerű barley wine.

On tap at the Brugge Beer Festival 2023, Brugge, Belgium. A hazy amber/brown coloured pour with a medium off white head on top. Sweet, malty, caramel, oak, vanilla taste/aroma. A proper boozy barley wine from Belgium.

On tap at Het Lagerhuys, pours a deep dark mahogany with a small beige head. Aroma brings out bright oak, bready malt, and toasted caramel. Flavour is rich and malty, with bready caramel, intense oak barrels, and toffee. Rich and malty. This is wonderfully done.

Bottle from Den Engelske Pub, Ølshoppen. Pours dark reddish brown with small white head. Aroma is malt, caramel, port wine, red wine, dried fruit, bread, oak, vanilla and almonds. Taste is medium to very sweet, light to medium bitter, light acidic and faint salty. Body is creamy with soft carbonation. Finish is long and mostly sweet with notes of caramel, port wine, full bodied red wine, sweet sherry, syrup cake, prunes, candied figs, raisins, liquorice, oak, vanilla, almonds, alcohol and hints of rye and Speyside whisky. Very rich and plesant.

Bottle at Just Beer, one I missed so far from this brewery, it appears. Moussy, medium thick, stable, yellowish cream beige, slowly thinning head over misty dark bronze-brown beer with deep mahogany hue. Lovely, rich bouquet of strong vanilla-scenting oak, oak furniture even, caramel candy, fig compote, stewed pear, blue plums, raisins, candied dates, hay, brown bread, butterscotch, rum. Sweet onset, bit cloying brown sugary effect with fruity dried plum and candied date notes, light stewed banana mush, light sourish touch, softish carb; very full, fluffy, soft body, thick caramelly malt sweetness with lingering sugary sweetness on top, bread pulp, very soft and thin toasty side (seemingly less so than I remember from regular Ensemble) drenched in strong, retronasal vanilla-like oak wood, lovely 'furniture'-like tannins but not enough to counter the strong overall sweetness; still a deliciously rich finish, though, in which all elements are cleverly tied together, including herbal, tea-ish hop bitter accents and of course a warming, yet non-astringent glow of rum-like alcohol. Very thick, rich, full and opulent beer, but seen its dark colour and overall sweetness, more akin to a quadrupel than a true barleywine - if a very high profiled one.
