Savanna Premium Cider first Siyavanna’d in 1996. Damn, we’re older than Black Twitter. But you know in 27 years you lay down a lot of roots. And like the trees our apples are grown on, our roots go deep. Which means though a lot has changed since ’96 – the way we bring Savanna to the people hasn’t, and never will. Because Siyavanna South Africa.

Sampled from 0.33 l bottle from local 'HIT'. Clear, pale golden with a thin, fluffy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, a little sourish and gently fruity aroma of apple juice and a touch of pear. Gently sweet, slightly sour, quite fruity taste of ripe apples, some pear and traces of wood, followed by a short, slightly tart, moderately dry finish. Thin to medium body, minimally astringent and gently effervescent mouthfeel, soft to average carbonation. Solid cider, quite pleasant although a little too sweet for a dry cider.

Bottle from the Booking Office. Appearance - pale yellow with a thin head. Nose - overripe but at the same time dry. Taste - juicy up front, then dry apple skins. Palate - as per nose. Not balanced. Overall - tastes like it's a blend of sweet and dry somehow.

Bottle, for the want of anything else to rate, at the Booking Office, shared with Ashton McCobb. Pours clear pale gold with a short-lived thin white head. Aromas of granny smiths apples, quite sharp. Taste is saccharine sweet, dry apples. Bit of a clash. Must be back-sweetened. Chalky finish.

Clear bottle served with a pint glass full of ice at The Doghouse Hamilton Bermuda. Clear golden yellow with a steady stream of carb bubbles. Light apple and faint brown sugary aroma and flavor with a hint of sulfur. Somewhat dry but a perception of residual sweetness. Decent hard cider.
