First brewed for the legendary festival of Wood and Barrel Aged Beer in Chicago, drinkers enjoyed this Bourbon County Variant so much we bottled it the next year (2010). People flocked to stores to get their hands on a bottle and have this one of a kind barrel aged stout. Over the past few years we have heard our fans express their love for this version and we are extremely proud to bring it back in 2014. This year's version features a little twist of aging the stout in Rye Whiskey Barrels with a mix of Mexican and Madagascar vanilla beans!

Bottle thanks to John & the team at Goose Island. It pours jet black with a decent tan head. The nose is rich, oily, juicy, honeycomb, toffee, vanilla, chocolate, rocky road and light spice. The taste is rich, bitter, chewy, chocolate, alcohol boost, vanilla, mild acidity, vegetables, spice, toast, earth and wood with a rich, warming finish. Full body and fine carbonation. Slick mouth - feel. Aroma is amazing... Taste is rich and filthy. Bonkers.

Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of vanilla and black chocolate notes with some bourbon is well balanced and quite enjoyable. Taste is a great balanced mix of sweet black chocolate notes, vanilla with some bourbon, subtle woody notes and residual sugar notes. Body is full with nice creamy texture, good carbonation and subtle warming alcohol notes. Very interesting beer with great complexity and excellent drinkability.

This is one of those beers that have shattered the definition of what an amazing beer should taste like. Tons of vanilla, milk chocolate and bourbon goodness.

Enjoyed from bottle at Emporium Logan Square after a work holiday party. Didn't take tasting notes, had this alongside Proprietors and Coffee, this was extremely good, huge but not overpowering vanilla notes, real damn good.

Black colour, beige head. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, cacao, caramel, chocolate and chocolate milk. Basically loads of vanilla and desert. Sweet flavour, bitter cacao, vanilla. Finish caramel, quite bitter, coffee, bourbon and wood. Nice.

Bottle from Red Beard. Thanks, wonderful experience. Big heady aroma of vanilla wafts up, alcohol singes the nose hairs. Black with velvety beige head, taste brings robust flavors, roasty grains, chocolate, vanilla, marshmallow, all gooey sweet ness tempered by the bitter roast grains and warmed by the whiskey and ABV. All that was missing was a roaring campfire.
