(Draught at ’t Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 1 Aug 2009) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with notes of dark fruit, toasty grain and dark wort bread. Malty taste with dark bread and hints of dark fruit. Medium body, fairly dry. Hardly exceptional, but well balanced and tasty.

On tap at Arendsnest. Clear dark amber colour, off white head. Aroma of ryebread, light butter, sweet. Flavour is rye, toasted malts, some caramel, with a light bitter finish. Nose didn’t really match the flavour. Less than medium bodied, easy drinking. This beer was brewed as an Abbey dubbel, but has all the qualities of a decent Dunkel.
