Hold On To Sunshine is a rich and delicious stout intended to be savored and enjoyed as we enter the cooler Autumn months here in New England. Brewed with Pale and Chocolate Malts, Lactose, Coffee, Cacao, and Peanut Butter, it exhibits notes of rich milk chocolate, dark brown sugar, creamy espresso, and chocolate covered peanut butter cups. A luxurious mouthfeel and creamy body contribute to a beer that feels much bigger than it is - a decadent treat and one that won’t overwhelm you with heaviness, yet is loaded with delicious bold flavors that express themselves as it warms. Life can come at us fast and hit us with unexpected hardship, inducing stress, fear, anger, confusion, sadness, and uncertainty. But together we must find solace and comfort in each other, and in something wonderful, equal, and free for everyone to hold on to - Sunshine. For Lauren.

Can pour from the brewery. Appearance is inky opaque black with light sparkle at the edges of the glass, finger width fizzy light brown head with poor retention and no lacing. Aroma is sweet over bitter roasted malts, dark fruit, chocolate, coffee, toffee, milder peanut butter, hint of alcohol. Taste is chocolate, bittersweet roasted malts, vanilla, lactose, dark fruit, alcohol, mild peanut butter and brown sugar. Mouthfeel is full bodied with thick, smooth texture, soft-to-average carbonation with pleasant alcohol warmth and finish as taste with lingering mild bitterness. Overall, a comforting stout with some nice complexity in aroma and flavor. Nice.

Can shared in Larchmont - big thanks to drsandman. Pours deep brown with a small, creamy tan head. Really rich, with dense and lovely coffee character, moderate milk chocolate, some fudge, ligth vanilla, toasted marshmallows. Medium bodied with fine to average carbonation. Reasonably sweet finish, more dense and layered chocolate character. Great stuff.

Pours deep ebony into a shaker. Mocha micro head with good retention recedes leaving scant trailing sheets. Milk chocolate and espresso aromas. Thick with creamy espresso and milk chocolate front to back. Lasting sweet milk finish.

At a tasting, smallish fizzy head, opaque black color, aroma of coffee, black chocolate, spice and dark sourdough bread, flavor of coffee, spoiled milk and coffee liquor, extremely sour and unbalanced. Not sure what this is supposed to be, but it is not good.

Can thanks to Randy. Pours a dark brown with medium tan head that lasts. The aroma is strong roast, cocoa, vanilla. Slick body, bitter roast, dark chocolate, boozy finish, very good.
