Hold On To Sunshine is a rich and delicious stout intended to be savored and enjoyed as we enter the cooler Autumn months here in New England. Brewed with Pale and Chocolate Malts, Lactose, Coffee, Cacao, and Peanut Butter, it exhibits notes of rich milk chocolate, dark brown sugar, creamy espresso, and chocolate covered peanut butter cups. A luxurious mouthfeel and creamy body contribute to a beer that feels much bigger than it is - a decadent treat and one that won’t overwhelm you with heaviness, yet is loaded with delicious bold flavors that express themselves as it warms. Life can come at us fast and hit us with unexpected hardship, inducing stress, fear, anger, confusion, sadness, and uncertainty. But together we must find solace and comfort in each other, and in something wonderful, equal, and free for everyone to hold on to - Sunshine. For Lauren.

Freezing Midtown bottle share. Dark dark brown pour with quite brown thin bubbles on the top. Nose is sweetish, cocoa, milk chocolate and toffee. Nuts. Tastes like a chocolate cake with a chocolate cream topping. Quite thick and well, not actually overdone, quite drinkable.

Canned 11/2/18 (batch 5 I think?), drunk 11/25/18. Ebony with dark chocolate and deep magenta highlights. Clarity seems fairly high, but it's difficult to determine. Tan head atop is small, but shows good retention. Dark chocolate, treacle, caramel and an emerging ash/char component on the end, make for a rich, aromatic, seemingly balanced nose. The lactose is folded in with the malt and the adjuncts seem to be well-integrated, as well. There's a bit of nutty character but I wouldn't guess actual peanut butter. Lots of creamy vanilla, milk chocolate, moderate roast and light ash lie on the finish with no alcohol, flaw or heavy sugar. In the mouth it's a bit sweeter than the nose lets on. A big peanut-butter-and-jelly-like character is found immediately from the contribution of roasted barley, peanut butter, lactose and cacao. It's enjoyable and well-done, not artificial at all, with caramel, milk chocolate, creamy vanilla notes and light char emerging on the finish. Rich, soft and luxurious with low but engaging carbonation and no alcohol or flaw noted. Definitely a sipper and I was more than happy to be done with 16 ounces by the end of it. Sweetness started to become fatiguing by the end, though I think this is more a product of the style and not really a problem of attenuation or anything. Still, even given the style name, it's not an excuse to be too sweet and unbalanced. Probably best as a dessert sipper in the six to eight ounce range.

16 oz. can. Huge bold coffee, light roast, mild vanilla in the nose. The flavor is perfect as the coffee serves as big backbone with a nice chocolate nuance. Lactose gives a sweetness and helps with the texture. This is supremely crushable and a must try if you are not lactose intolerant. The body, texture, and bold coffee is a huge success for me.

Thanks Virby44 for sharing the bottle! Poured into a snifter showing pitch black with thin coffee translucent rims and very sparse latte foam. The nose shows pronounced notes of peanuts with light notes of roasted malt and chestnut. The palate is oily thick bodied with smooth but well carbonated. Subtle sweetness with peanuts throughout and a moderately intense roasted coffee bitterness
