This version was blended from four different wine barrels...one with blackberries, one with cacao nibs, one with vanilla beans and one with simply the base beer. The result is a beer with multiple layers of complexity. 16e release.

Toranomon summer tasting, thank you Justin. Dark brown pour, almost no foam there. Nice sour nose, light caramel candy that is tart and not sweet. Touch of smoke, light balsamic vinegar. Taste is balanced, acidic but still has the essence of dark fruits and figs. Light smoke, and a tobacco leaf tipped in. Balsamic vinegar without sweetness. Dry and drying tannins in the aftertaste, lingering dryness coating the mouth. Spicy throat tingling cocoa in the finish. Wow, dark sour done right.

I am a geek and the difference between this and the regular wa totally lost on me. I love the regular but pissed they a beer that was so similar to the original. Good, needless to say, but not so different

Poured from a 750 ml bottle. Aroma is full of dark fruit and malt notes with light amounts of vanilla. Quite a bit of chocolate with dark caramel, toffee and toast as well. Moderate blackberry notes with some cherry and raisin as well. Faint vanilla and oak notes with a bit of red wine. Pours dark brown to black with a medium sized, thick, creamy, tan head that recedes somewhat quickly to the edges where it lingers. No lacing and small legs. Flavor is moderately tart with a medium light sweetness. Chocolate, toffee and dark caramel with a light roast note. Some berry notes with a bit of cherry, cassis and raisin. Light red wine and faint oak notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Low astringency and low, but present alcohol warmth. Overall, a nice beer. Great malt profile with some balanced acidity. I'm not a big fan of dark sours, but this one is well balanced and pretty nice.

Bottle shared by Yaniv/Levi, thanks! Pours a murky dark brown with a grayish brown head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has earthy dark bread with some tart fruits, chocolate and a bit of oak supporting. Flavor has an interesting combination of dark grains, chocolate, tart fruits and a bit of oak underlying.

Bottle, shared with Brian and Mike. Pours hazy reddish mahogany, small beige head, good lacing. Aroma is roasty, sea air notes, coffee, vanilla, cocoa. Flavor is medium tart, lightly saline, roasty with vanilla. Medium body. Not getting much fruit.
