This winter-inspired pils is a classic drinkable pilsner brewed with spruce tips. Like a deep breath of fresh Northwest air, Yellow Snow is a crisp and clean with a refreshing hint of spruce making this pils enjoyable time and time again. Contrary to popular belief, spruce tips don't actually taste like Christmas trees. Instead, they impart subtle yet complex aromas and flavors of sweet bubblegum, citrus and resin.

7 INGREDIENTS: Weyerman Pils, Carabelge malts; Perle, Sterling hops; Oregon Spruce Tips; Czech Pils Yeast; Free Range Coastal Water

Can. Gold in color with a nice. Aroma was grains and spruce. Taste had a pleasant sweet taste upfront, spruce in the middle with a well balanced finish.

Can at home, thanks to Eszter for this one. Pours deep, clear golden with thin, quickly disappearing head. Nose is usual pilsner-like, with a subtle hint of fruits. In taste this interesting fruity-herbal (-like, I can't really name it) note appears first that later turns into the pils character, resulting in a fruity, refreshing pilsner. Closes with short sweetish-fruity finish, has average carbo and light body, goes down easily. Not bad, but this conception feels like it could have turned out even better.

Tap at Kalahana. Clear gold with a tight head. Honey and bready malt nose, pine, spruce, herbs, grapes, light butter. Strangely soft in a weird but nice way on the palate. Resiny, lemony flavor, creamy, touch of cardboard and diacetyl but not too much. Cask-like in body.

Can sample at a tasting at Max's place. Thanks troubles. Yellow. Oxidation, cardboard, weird artificial Mitz Petel, bitterish note, light-bodied.

RB backlog. A bit esthery, chive, spruce, dough. Medium sweet, a bit tart, mineralic, light bitterness that builds up. Small, hard carbonation on a medium body. Feels much more like a spicy Zwickel, not like a Pilsner.

Dose: Hazy, golden, quickly diminishing medium-sized head, moderate hoppy-malty nose with oily traces of citrus fruits and wood; moderate, but sharp bitter-sweet flavour, quite light bodied and quite tart; lingering bitter-sweet finish with citrussy and woody traces, again. As Frank Zappa sang: Watch out where the whiskies, go, and don't You eat that yellow snow...

So the only time I ever had this beer was in UMass after a Temple UMass basketball game. It was snowing. The date was 1/19/02.

Honey and hay nose, in equal measure. Clear golden, medium head, little retention. Hay. Light body, easy carbonation.
