Draft @ PDX Taproom, Shibuya; Caldera’s 20th Anniversary lineup. Pours bright amber, just a bit cloudy, relatively clear and with decent foam top. Nose is heavy with malt character, some citrus and tropical fruits there as well but not that pronounced. Flavour is quite bitter but not really 100 IBU level bitterness, quite nice balance although I believe it would still taste hoppier if it was more fresh. Relatively malt-forward IPA, drinks nice overall.

At City Hops some lady was buying out the store for work event and they were popping cans to taste and I got caught in crossfire. Deeper gold. Nose is tropical fruits. Tastes malty, papaya, pine, strawberry. West coast IPA through and through.

Caldera Mosaic IPA 6.5% Mosaic is one of the hottest new hop varietals at the moment. Deep Amber color with a thick dense beige head and a candyish tropical fruit and dank resinous aroma at first. On second whiff I got magi and papaya! The taste is tropical fruits and dank woodsy pine. Medium bodied with a raspy carbonation but decent depth of flavor. A good bang for your buck beer as I think this was less than 500¥ on Rakuten. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can:
Pours dark amber with a slight haze and a big, rocky head. Aroma is cookie dough, sweaty hops, pine and some red berries. Flavour is straw berries, pine needles and resin. Long, hoppy bitterness.

12 oz can, enjoyed under the Wenatchee sun. I have hop phases, and mosaic happens to be my latest. A mature than expected aroma, grassy hops. Flavor is bitter forward, caramel malt well balanced with an earthy hop quality. Very pleasant camping beer for sure. Drinks very nicely. Solid mosaic showcase here.

Can from Corti Bros. Pours dark copper with a beige head. Papaya aroma. Usually I don’t get that, but there’s a lot of it. Med body or better. Flavor seems quite papaya. With time there’s pale stone fruit and white grape. There’s a slightly sweet caramel base. So it’s not entirely dry, but it is very hoppy, and bitter enough to overwhelm the malt. It’s quite bitter for me, and I think it’s great.

Tap at OBF 2015. Pours hazy copper with a beige head. Aroma of strange to me southern fruits and lightly cooked/roast caramel. Med + body. Flavor has lots of tropical fruits, mild roast carmel; finishes towards dry; nicely bitter. Indeed!

Tap at BeerTemple, 23rd March 16. Pours fairly dark amber. Aroma is malts, sweet, fruit, not do hoppy. Taste is a more malt forward IPA, not more normal preference, but this is quite good. Nice

On tap at OBF. Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A nice big fruity nose. Light caramel, big fruity juicy hops, some toast. Smooth. Very tropical.
