Pours mahogany brown, white bubbly head. Fresh watery aroma, a bit of usual dish washing liquid smell. Taste is slightly bitter, malty and even with some roast notes in the aftertaste. Aftertaste itself is weak and short. Overall drinkable but quite boring for a Christmas beer.

50cl bottle from Stockmann Tallinn. Pours very dark brown, almost black, with a rather small, beige head. Moderate malty aroma with dried fruits, some lightly spicy and roasty notes and hints of caramel and metal. Medium sweet and malty with a lightly bitter finish. Not as sweet as expected and quite well balanced actually. A bit watery and mild in flavour, but quite drinkable. This one was from last year so maybe a year in my closet has done some good to the beer. --- Beer merged from original tick of Jõulusokk on 28 Oct 2013 at 18:10 - Score: 6

50 cl bottle @ olio, BBE 06.08.2011. Rated on 04.04.2011
Aroma is rather unpleasant and stale with roasted malt, glue and hints of coffee. Flavour is decent with some roasted malt and hints of solvent. I guess this is what a Christmas sock tastes like…

(Bottle, 0,5l, courtesy of FatPhil) The beer poured dark reddish brown. Head was medium sized and white. Aroma had sweetness, raisin and mildly roastedness. Palate was quite light bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, sweetness, metallicness, mildly roastedness and quie low bitterness. Aftertaste was mild and sweet. Quite weak brew.

(Bottle. Thanks to SaintMatty) Reddish brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty nose with caramel, dark bread, dried fruit, wort, red berries and hints of cinnamon. Malty nose with notes of caramel, wort, raisins, dried fruit and a slightly spicy finish with medium bitterness and some sweetness. More than medium body. Solid and well made, quite decent winter bock.

Bottle. (thanks SaintMatty) Dark red color with small beige head. Malt, dried fruit, a bit sweet, not much of Christmas spices. Mouth feel was thin and there were traces of cardboard in the taste.

Bottled (BB 06/2010)
Dark ruby color, small beige head. Bock-like nose: dark malts, toastyness, some dry coffee, grassy hoppyness. Toasty maltyness, some caramel in the flavor. Finish has some grassy hoppy bitterness and some alcohol. A bit watery palate for 6% bock. One of the best beers from Viru. This is quite close to German bocks.
