Tap at Gremlin. Aroma is similar to their white saison, clove, lots and of herbs, white pepper, bit of roast there. Taste is better, more roastiness, herbal stuff more subdued, little bit of bitterness at the end. Something a little spicy too. But, in my opinion, a little underwhelming.

On tap at Watering Hole listed as a collaboration beer between Shonan and Ushitora. Hazy black pour with a medium off-white head. Clove, coriander, vegetable greens, chocolate and roasted malts on the nose. Lively carbonation and a medium body. Quite bitter and spicy on the palate leaving a slight vegetable astringency on the finish. Good stuff, but really not much of a saison at all...more of a session black IPA. --- Beer merged from original tick of Black Session Saison on 10 May 2015 at 11:01 - Score: 7

Session black saison Shonan 4% On tap at dig bar. A tangy sour saison nose with hints of chocolate. It pours a deep reddish brown. Med-light bodied with a sour tangy chocolate taste, quite good for 4%.

Tap at Bungalow. Cloudy black with a fine, off-white head. Spicy chocolate nose, oranges nice in quality but a bit faint. Very spicy, roasty flavor interesting and just a bit funky. Nicely hopped.

very hoppy nose with excellent roasted moat character, but little saison funk. Still nice. The mouth is very focused on roasted malt with a touch of Belgian yeast and hoppiness. I would say this is a black Belgian session IPA than a saison. Still pretty damn tasty stuff with long dry bitterness
