Bottle from Asda. Poured a crystal clear medium amber with a frothy white head. The aroma is sweet gluey toffee caramel malt, tropical fruit, light woody hop. The flavour is moderate sweet light bitter with a light, watery malt, light fruit, light metallic hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.

Bottle from Seiyu. Marked down to 118 yen. Best by date of June this year. Poured into an English tulip pint. Pours a clear amber with a small head that dissipates fairly quickly but leaves a little rim throughout. Aromas of grain, caramel, wet cardboard and slight toasted toffee. Thin body with a watery mouthfeel. Taste is more of the same but a bit spiky on the palate. Finish tastes a little like old tea. Not very nice. --- Beer merged from original tick of Golden Ale on 11 May 2015 at 00:13 - Score: 5

Many thanks to Sean for this bottle! Malzig-süßlich, frisch. Etwas aleig-süßlich, leicht säuerlich. Malzig-nett, aber zu flach.

Bottle 150 yen from Seiyu. 4.5% Deep copper-amber gold with a foamy off-white head and good lacing. The nose is butterscotch and grainy caramel. Scratchy body, a bit metallic/cardboard starting to go off I think, other than that the taste is sweet grainy mildly cloying caramel I associate with British brews hence my statement of Adnam’s Wild Hop being a cut above the average British brew I know. Kind of meh.

Bottle at the Seiyu supermarket, which, like ASDA, is also part of the Walmart Empire. \298. Floral, citrus hop nose, slight caramel malt, bread, cherries or grapes. Fruity, reasonably nice. Light amber-orange color, tall, fine head. Nice clean maltiness, somewhat sweet, fruity, good bitter finish. Full but not heavy. Enjoyable and well balanced. Great deal for the price of a Japanese major lager.

Own brand with the distinct Shepherd Neame textures, but has too much body to it.
