The malt base is similar to Barry’s Bitter while the hopping during the boil is borrowed from Hop Hill IPA. Matteo & Cecilia from MC-77 chose the spices (pine tree buds & mandarin peel) and Marcello from RETORTO the dry hopping (Simcoe & Cascade).

The resulting beer is very different from the two that inspired it and the combination of the spices and dry hopping is just right giving alternating notes of fruit, balsamo e resin.

Draught @ La Tana a Bruxelles, 10 Rue de L’Enseignement, Brussels, Belgium 1000. [ As Hilltop /Retorto/MC77 Bitter Spiced Symphony ].Unclear - hazy matt medium amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, straw, caramel, moderate to heavy hoppy, citrus, orange, hoppy, grass. Flavor is moderate sweet and moderate to heavy bitter with a average to long duration, orange, pors (porse) - myrtle, wood, pale malt. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. Tap at Ma Che. Great nose of UK hops, seems like Maris Otter malt, bready, biscuits, a touch of caramel. Hazy orange-gold with a tall head. Lovely hopp flavor, clean and bitter. Minty, some herbs. Good stuff, though as it warms the spices seem to be overdone.

Tap at Scurreria Beer & Bagel, Genoa, Italy. Pours a slightly hazy amber brown with a lasting bubbly white head. Aroma of fresh hop, light malt, caramel, with floral notes. Light sweetness, medium bitterness. Medium body, sticky texture, average carbonation. Finish is bitter, creamy. Decent beer.

Draft shared at La Tana a Bruxelles. Very hazy dull golden orange with an off white head. Aroma of herbal hops, citrus, light fruits. Flavour is light to moderate sweet and moderate bitter. Light medium bodied with a juicy hop palate and soft carbonation. [19-09-2016]

Cask at Fass&Cask in Rome-Italy. Light amber pour, tick creamy foam. Nose: nuts, tangerine, candy orange. Mouth: fresh watery maltiness, spices, bitter sharp finish. Good!
