Tap at Craft Beer Holiday. Pale to medium gold, cloudy. Light citrus nose, wheat, crackers. flavor is a bit sweet and candyish. Light body, bitter finish. Not really working for me.

I had to work in the Umeda Grand Front Building today so I decided to pop into Molto for lunch. I ordered the 雨読みのセゾン (Ame Yomi Saison) from Ushitora. 4.1% with a thick foamy head that lasts and a spicy-sweet saison aroma. First impressions destroy any memories I have of that Asahi Saison. Thin bodied with a raspy mouthfeel, in this respect Asahi won, this is watery which seems to be the case with most Ushitora beers lately - make more beers with the minimum of malts, more profitable I guess. The taste is pretty good, funky, spicy but cardboard as well which detracts. Full on saison yeast character but nowhere near enough malty body. Passable but stop pinching pennies and make a beer with some body please Ushitora.

Tap at the Ushi-Tora tap takeover at CBM Koenji. Fairly clear golden color with a great soft soapy white head. Classic saison yeast aromas with some spice, white pepper and lemon zest. Taste is similar. Thin body and watery mouthfeel with almost zero carbonation. 50% of the reason I enjoy a good saison is missing.
