Tap at Craftheads event. Booze. Fruit again, something sweet. All these ratings are the same. Bourbon feel. Dry and malty, but with huge booze injection. Good stuff. Would like a proper glass of it to properly assess. Rerate, Gar Eden, Jan 15. Had my full glass. Stinky tropical fruit hoppiness, honey, booze. Light spice. Taste is surprisingly sweet, honey, tropical fruit, full bodied. Like a ramped up house ipa. Bit of spicy caramel later when it warmed. Nice. Small increase in score.

Bottle, 330 ml, trade with TimE. Thanks for this one! Shared with JFK10000 and Max. Left it in cellar for a year. Pours dark orange, medium off white head. Dark fruit, dried fruit, nutty, easy drinkable for ABV, sweet, medium to full bodied. Seems it lost a bit of body and thickness, but gained drinkability.

Slightly hazy amber with a thin head. Has a light nose, thinnish, phenols and esters...fermentation not on point. Florals, touch of alcohol late. Did side by side with the original and it doesnt compare.

Bottle courtesy of Timo. Tiny hazy caramel brown pour with a small offwhite head. Caramel toffee malts & herbal piney hops nose. Minerals & alcohol. Sweet, bitter, malty & herbal taste. Round, astringent & boozy mouth. Solid, but not spectacular.

Bottle from Tanakaya. Pours a clear amber with some ruby. No head. Honey, wood, alcohol, molasses, cinnamon, vanilla all present on the nose. Not overly sweet but sweet, harsh at first but after an hour or 2 it mellows out. Lots of roasted molasses, piney bitterness and some honey present on the palate. Finish is bitter as it warms and quite boozy. Still, a nice smooth mouthfeel. --- Beer merged from original tick of Shiga Kogen / Hair of the Dog Monkey Claws on 15 Feb 2016 at 21:46 - Score: 7. Original review text: Boozy and hot with some roasted molasses and bitterness. Meh.

Poured beautiful amber, not much foam - although I did try to pour vigorously. Aroma of sweet beeswax, some hop remnants also there. Many layers. Taste is still very full, but hides alcohol really well, strong malt base and honey sweetness. Not too sweet though, just right. Get a lot better and more multi-layered once it warms. Great stuff, I like it better than Adamu.

Deep amber, mahogany color. Sweet malty nose with candided tangerines, cherries and wood. Christmas spices, candided tangerines, cinnamon and wood in the mouth. Fantastic, but boozy mouth. Nice lingering Christmas cake finish lovely. Age really helped this beer and it could go much much longer.

Taster showing cloudy amber with a finger of clean white foam. The nose shows clean tropical and slight piney notes. The palate is full bodied and lightly carbonated. Flavors of sweet malt and an intense alcohol burn. Needs a lot more aging to round out the edges.
