Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into an english pint glass. Pours reddish amber with some small suspended yeast and small off-white head. Little lacing, thick body, low carbonation, and syrupy texture. Taste is rye, spice, and bitter hop finish. Pretty good, but a little heavy, I would have guessed specialty grain for the style

355ml bottle. Clear dark copper colour with small to average, frothy to creamy, half-way lasting, moderately lacing, off-hite head. Caramel malty aroma with resinous and piney hoppy overtones. Taste is initially caramel malty, slightly sweaty, resinous hoppy overtones, later with increasing dry- and bitterness, piney, slightly grassy, also hints of raisin and rye bread crust. Clean, compact - too clean for me.

Cloudy copper with a short, yellow-tan head. Aroma is rye, pine, sweet fruit. Taste is sweet, spicy....fruit and rye with a heavy caramel feel and a strong piney bitter.

355ml bottle. Mahogany color, thick, lasting white head. Rye, losds of it in aroma, also some sticky boozyness. Flavor has rye, hops, caramel. Bitter warming finish. Not In best shape anymore I am afraid, most of the hops are gone. Almost full bodied.

On sale from Antenna America, made with 18% Rye. 8% a nice amber brown with a beige head. Fruity hop aroma, tropical fruit mango & citrus. Bitter at first, nice biscuit/malt/caramel in the middle & a clean bitter finish. None of that fruitiness comes through in the flavor. Good but not great, an average rye beer...

Lively reddish-amber beer with a thin head. Aroma is very hoppy with a floral, citrus edge to it and an underlying sweetness too. The hop and citrus is there in the flavour as well but stronger is what I assume is the rye which is very strong on the tongue. The caramel-sweetness is slightly more prominent in the mouth than it is in the scent as well. After a sip the hop comes through a bit more as backtaste. Very nice indeed.

Bottled (from Ales By Mail). Deep amber colour with a mediumsized foamy/creamy white head, that leaves some lace. Aroma is caramel, mild sweet malts along with big time tropical fruits, some grass and floral notes. Flavour is honey, some tropical fruits, grass, floral notes and quite sweet malts as well. Mild spicyness as well. Long fruity and floral bitter aftertaste. Balanced, and very drinkable.

Tried in Vermont, thanks to my friend Mart. Pours a hazy deep amber colour with a frothy warm cap that has great retention and even better lace. Big hoppy nose with the grapefruit notes. Then, other fruity malts come out with hints of nuts. Medium-bodied with a mild dry finish. Sweet caramel malt taste with the warming alcohol, citrus and nutty finish. This is a great rye specialty ale with the American bitterness from the hop.

(Bottle, 0.355 l, courtesy of VastActiv, thanks Janne, 20130406) The beer poured brown and clear. Its head was small and white. Aroma had malts, sweetness, sweet rye bread and hops. Palate was medium bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, sweetness, resin, sweet rye bread and bitterness. Afteraste was sweet, bitter and mildly boozy. Not a bad double IPA but not such that would impress me.
