It’s my pleasure to present a collaboration with The Brewer’s Art. A Baltimore institution that helped to pioneer the Belgian beer movement in the States. Brewed with a combination of Spelt & Rye, accented with a blend of Heather, Honeysuckle, and Hyssop. The result is a rustic farmhouse ale displaying earthy tones & floral characteristics while maintaining intricate balance

12oz bottle. Filtered looking orange-tan. Looks very innocuousI and regular beer-beer like. Not much of a head, some soda bubbles. This is a very nice rendition of a Bierre de Garde. Manages to capture a lot of subtle French farmhouse type tones, and also play with some oddball additions. I’m not really digging the aroma, but I enjoy the overall product. Cool beer. Would’ve loved to have the one brewed at BA.

Bottle. Tall Boys, Leeds. Clear, dark orange. Minimal, white head. Lovely, toasty, bready saison character. The honeysuckle is evident. There’s a sweet, herbal edge, presumably the hyssop. Taste is soft sweet. Slowly turning light dry, and lighter bitter. Some spice on the palate. Slightly sticky. Finishes soft sweet, with a saison, bready finish. Liked this. Bit sticky, though.

Earl Of Essex. Keg. Hazy amber beer, small pale cream colour head. Palate is light and semi dry and a little crisp. Sweetish malt base. On odd skunky floral caramel. Mild ripe fruits. Light dry finish. Odd but not unpleasant.

Keg at the Earl Of Essex, 03/01/15. Almost clear orange golden with a decent egg shell white cap that stays for the show. Nose is bitter orange, apricot jam, straw, light yeast notes, earthy. Taste comprises sweet citric licks, mandarin, farmy, candied orange peel, grassy, yeast esters. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with sweet and sour fruit strokes. Decent BDG.
