We get some help from our friends/neighbors at Sebastopol’s Hardcore Coffee just up the road. The coffee beans are freshly ground when we drop them into the brew kettle and whirlpool, giving that deep coffee flavor without taking away from that even deeper beer flavor.

A relatively mild chocolate and coffee nose with a head that is a very light tan for an IS. The texture and taste profile of this beer are both relatively thin for an 8.9% beer. The coffee taste lingers longer with a slightly bitter edge, but not unpleasant. Well balanced but underwhelming.

Draught. Strong coffeee and malt in this one, maybe overly so. Lots of ABV too.

Tap. Deep, dark brown color with a tan head. Aroma is coffee with hints of chocolate and vanilla. Taste is like a delicious coffee. Really tasty.

Bottle at Antenna America. Dark brown red colour, small golden bubbly head. Aroma is roasty, coffee bitterness, quite a bit of booze. Orange. Maybe citrus or hot alcohol! Slight bit of vanilla. Taste is nice, coffee and booze, nice bitterness at the finish. Finish is lingering roast with bit of fruit. Nice.

2010 bottle from Ericandersnavy. Contents partly leaked out of the bottle, so I’ll have to reconstruct the beer a bit. Apple syrup and fresh grinded coffee in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with pepper, maple syrup, roast and coffee. Not carbonated anymore. Should have been a great beer.
