22oz bomber split with one half being split with Anndiesel out on the porch. Big sweet chocolate pumpkin aroma, like those little candy corn things. Big sweet dessert beer, sort of a return to greatness for them. Big massive flavors, but the general palate is light as air and the aftertaste is so light and smooth that it truly deserves some merit. Really sweet, but a perfect dessert beer. Quite phenomenal, well executed beer.

22oz bottle pours an inky black with some foamy, off white head. Spicey nose, sweet, marshmellow, brown sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, candied yams. Sweet flavor, brown sugar, caramelized root veg, cinnamon, nutmeg, root beer, vanilla. Sweet but smooth finish.

22 ounce bottle. Pours pitch black. Small tan head dissipates quickly. Huge pumpkin pie aroma. Intense dark roasted malt flavor mixes nicely with the pumpkin pie spices. Lot’s of nutmeg. There’s a lot to this beer. Best when sipped slowly and savored.

Strong pumpkin, vanilla, and cinnamon nose, brown sugar, chocolate, and pie crust also prominent. A little buttery, which works fantastically well in this situation. Clear cola, thick tan head, no lacing. Less spicy on the palate with pumpkin, vanilla, and toast assuming the lead role. Tangy raisin overtones. Alcohol hardly noticeable, medium body. Compex and very well balanced. Nicely done from conception through execution. On par with Pumking, if not a wee bit better.

Draft at Snallygaster 2013. Poured a black color, dark brown head. Aroma was cinnamon notes, vanilla, roast notes. Flavor had plenty of fresh, pumpking-style flavored pumpkin notes. Vanilla, roasted notes, cinnamon. This is Pumpking’s bigger, badder sibling. --- Beer aliased from original tick of Blackwater Series: Warlock on 01 Oct 2016 at 01:11

Location: 22 oz. bottle from Buy Rite, 10/13/13 Aroma: The aroma is roasted pumpkin, lots of autumn spices, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla Appearance: It pours a dark brown-black color with a thin beige head and drippy lace Flavor: The flavor is sweet dark malts, pumpkin pie spice, vanilla, cinnamon, and cookie dough Palate: The body is medium-plus, a smooth feel, soft-to-average carbonation, and a light dry finish Overall Impression: This is a heck of an interesting beer. Damn! I mean, wow! I hardly have the words to correctly describe this. It’s basically a dessert beer for people who like pumpkin pie spices more than they like actual pumpkin pie. Also, if you like those spice cakes people make this time of year, you’ll recognize and like this beer. What a nice combo. Color me impressed. I rarely enjoy sweet beers, but this one has enough balance that I hardly noticed how sweet it is. Between this and Creme Brûlée, I can honestly say, no one hits dessert Impy Stouts better than Southern Tier. 9/4/8/4/17 Updated 9/39/24 (only been 11 years): 12 oz bottle, 9/29/24. It pours a darker brown color, with a medium brown head and some light, drippy lacework. Dark roast and pumpkin spice. Grainy and earthy. Leans sweet, but not overly so. The ABV is well hidden. Eleven years after my previous rating, this one still hits for me. 8/4/8/4/17
