This is our Ol’ Faithful. No, it’s not a geothermal phenomenon. It’s the beer everybody, including professional beer judges, just seems to dig. Maybe they like how it’s smooth, medium-bodied, and semi-sweet, while not too heavy or bitter. Maybe it’s the amber color, or the blend of four imported malts balanced by two Germanic hops, or the fact that it takes five weeks to get right. Or maybe it’s all the above.
Malts: Vienna, Pilsner, Dark Munich, CaraAmber
Hops: Northern Brewer, Saaz

I can’t even really remember what this tastes like as I was almost passed out at this point, but it was lightly hoppy and actually seemed ok at the time. Some caramel as well. Tap.

At Barbecue Dave’s, Sterling VA, November 2013. Deep amber with a decent, off-white head. Sweetish lager, with some caramel and a few hops in the finish. Ok.

This brew pours a clear copper color with a thin and fizzy white head that evaporates steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, hay and honey. Light-bodied with flavors of toasted malt, molasses and nuts. The finish is sweet with a roasted malt and grass aftertaste. Decent overall.

Enjoyed on tap at the Camel in Richmond, VA prior to playing a fest show with my band. Appearance is a dark slightly cloudy amber with a thin white rim around the glass. Aroma is not too apparent, nothing much from a smell perspective. Taste goes down nice, cold and smooth, nothing jumps out about this one and its just decent. Happy to have tried this though.

On draft at Spacebar in Falls Church VA. Pours a clear amber with an off white head. Fein malt aroma. Lively mouthfeel with lots of carbonation. Malt flavors with some hint of bananas. Smooth finish.

Finally, a vienna that is not cloying, yet very fresh. Copper collored lager. Nice head. Smell is neither cloying nor sweet, just palin decent beer. Has a tad of that slaggy thing going on but overall this is a decent tasting well behaved beer. Fairly mild and easy to get along with. Goes down well. Appeals to the lager lover in me. Nice overall beer experience.

Location: Draft at the Brewpub, 11/21/12
Aroma: This one has a fairly malty nose, with toast and caramel being the main components
Appearance: It pours a clear caramel color, with a white head that leaves medium-heavy lace
Flavor: The taste is much like the nose, fairly malty, on the sweet side, with caramel and toast
Palate: This one has a light-medium body, with an alright mouthfeel, and a fairly clean finish
Overall Impression: The pours was probably the stand-out component of this beer, otherwise, it is fine, but kind of unexciting and kind of run-of-the-mill. Even so, it is certainly drinkable and worth trying.

Pint poured from tap at World of Beer Arlington. Poured a pretty clear amber color with a medium sized white head. Aroma was mild malts, some bready notes, caramel in there too. Flavor was sweet malts, bready, caramel. Very light. Really drinkable, I’ve been able to use this one as a gateway craft beer with at least two of my friends in just the last few days. I’d say I’d probably pick this one up as a BMC alternative to the more timid of friends who would be more hesitant to try something else.
