This is our Ol’ Faithful. No, it’s not a geothermal phenomenon. It’s the beer everybody, including professional beer judges, just seems to dig. Maybe they like how it’s smooth, medium-bodied, and semi-sweet, while not too heavy or bitter. Maybe it’s the amber color, or the blend of four imported malts balanced by two Germanic hops, or the fact that it takes five weeks to get right. Or maybe it’s all the above.

16 oz draft pour at Ashburn Pub in a standard pint glass. Clear caramel/amber with off-whtie head. Aromas of caramel, light citrus. Tastes of caramel, citrus, limes, a little biscuit, bit of tropical fruit. Medium-light body with a dry finish. Medium carbonation, light mouthfeel. Simple inoffensive lager but solid.

Reviewed from notes.
This was poured into a pilsener glass.
The appearance was basically a light to hazy red color with a slight hazy orange tints around the edges. The head was there but less than a finger’s worth and it dissipated within about a minute. There was barely any lacing along the sides.
The smell had a roasty nutty to caramel maltiness with a light underscore of toffee.
The taste followed the aroma pretty much right on spot.
On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. The carbonation was pretty smooth. There’s a nice sweet malty aftertaste leading to a dry sweet malty finish.
Overall, I say this was a pretty good Vienna Lager, uh oh Sam Adams, if this one gets out further than its normal distro, your Boston lager could have a run for its money.
