This is our Ol’ Faithful. No, it’s not a geothermal phenomenon. It’s the beer everybody, including professional beer judges, just seems to dig. Maybe they like how it’s smooth, medium-bodied, and semi-sweet, while not too heavy or bitter. Maybe it’s the amber color, or the blend of four imported malts balanced by two Germanic hops, or the fact that it takes five weeks to get right. Or maybe it’s all the above.

Malts: Vienna, Pilsner, Dark Munich, CaraAmber
Hops: Northern Brewer, Saaz

Bottle. Lactic caramel malt and hay aroma. Amber with large light tan head. Sweet tangy creamy caramel malt and mildly bitter hay flavor. Nice body. Pretty good.

12 oz. bottle with no date info found even after being told by DB that this is on the bottleneck. Tulip glass A: Beautiful pour. Clear copper color with a short lasting head and patchy lacing. Few visible bubbles. S: Malty with toffee and nut aromas. Moist brown bread. T: Taste is also malty as expected with toasted nut and a bit of caramel sweetness. Also tastes watery. M: Light body and below average (flat) carbonation does not excite the tongue IMO. Slight lingering sweetness but it is not cloying. O: Been intending to try this for a while. Now I know it’s just a mediocre amber lager. Watery malt taste and always expensive. OK but not impressed. Points off too for shitty (non-existent) date coding.

Bottle Clear light amber. Coarse brief light tan head. Nice blend of toasted light molat flavors and aromas and a little hope bite that balanced nicely. Clean bodied and smooth palate. Taasty

Six-pack of bottles in various glasses over several weeks. Matches the brewers deScription. Sweet and malty. Just shiny of coppery taste I don’t care for but otherwise a decent beer.

Bottle from GBBF 2015 and drunk at home. Darkish reddish brown clear lasting beige head. Some lager yeast/malt on the aroma, touch of spice. In the mouth it’s got some sweetness, some more spice. Clean finish. Some hop, some spice. It’s fine. Quite enjoyable.
