Bottle from a generous BA. Pours a very dark brown with a tan head that dissipates slowly to the edges. Aroma has sweet notes of bourbon and vanilla with backing notes of roasted malts and alcohol. Flavor begins with roasted malts and becomes sweeter with the bourbon and a hint of vanilla. There was a bit of alcohol in the finish and the beer was smooth.

Bottle listed at 12% ABV (red wax) via a trade (btw, I can’t name any 22 year bourbons, 21 and 23, yes, but not 22). Pours with a very deep brown body and a small brown head. Decent legs and a noticeable sheen of alcohol on the side of the glass. Aromas of decadent bourbon, oak, vanilla, cola, fudge, nuts, dark fruits, wet wood, toffee, wood, earthy, dry, amazing! Flavors of cola, anise, fudge, nutty, really chewy, molasses, bourbon, rich somewhat bitter toffee. Coffee, HUGE DURATION! A decent amount of a fruity, maybe even slightly vinous note. Lots of oak and vanilla in the finish. An extremely good beer. Boozy, but in a very nice way. Creamy and substantial body. Good oak tannins and alcohol round things out in the finish. Right under BA Decadence 2007 (which I have had recently) and right around the level of Dark Night in the BA Imperial Porter category. Truly a great beer!

12 oz bottle. Pours black with a light tan head. Aroma has lots of bourbon and oak in it, over a chocolate and vanilla base. Flavor leads with strong chocolate, vanilla, and cherry notes, with bourbon also definitely making its presence felt. This is an impressively well-balanced use of barrel aging here, with the bourbon barrel and the base beer both singing clearly in the final product. Well done!
