Influential beer author the late Michael Jackson describes “Berlin White Beer” as having an “insistent sparkle, a fragrant fruitiness in the nose, a sharp, dry palate, and a frisson of quenching, sour acidity in the finish.”

North Coast Brewing’s Passion Fruit-Peach Berliner Weisse is made with the juice of peaches from California and passion fruit from Ecuador, a Pan-American take on the German classic.

Super crisp, golden and light peach coloured body with a thinnish white head that fades very quickly. Aroma of wheat, yeast, bread, apricots, peaches and a dose of caster sugar. Light-bodied; Super crisp and tart fruit flavours show up front with a lot of peaches, some apricots, a tiny dose of passionfruit and a little citrus as well, along with some mild sweetness and a touch of bread and yeast notes as well. Aftertaste shows some grass, a light floral and herbal elements, but mostly a tart and fruit-filled characteristic with some fresh wheat and a light dose of sweetness as well, mainly from the fruits. Overall, a nice and flavourful, very light beer that shows a lot of fruits, a bunch of tart notes and a good robust wheat character that make this go down very easily and show a refreshing bite throughout. I sampled this twelve ounce, clear glass coloured bottle purchased from Crystal City Wine Shop in Arlington, Virginia on 13-September-2019 for US$2,99 sampled at my home on the Eastern Shore of Virginia in Pungoteague, Virginia on 15-February-2020.

650ml bottle. Cloudy, orangey golden colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, white head. Lactic and fruity aroma, notes of sauerkraut, passion fruit, peach, subtle sugary sweetness. Taste is sweet-and-sour, fruity, slightly lactic, minimally citric, notes of peach and passion fruit, hints of sauerkraut. Almost mushy texture, relatively soft carbonation. Surprisingly sweet, highly drinkable - very nice!

Sampled on draft at 3 Rivers this beer poured a hazy dark golden color with a large creamy white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was very tart and fruity with notes of lemon, pineapple and peach. The flavor was exceptionally sour and a bit tangy with pineapple, lemon, pear and peach. Very long finish. Medium body.

Bottle at Hills Market. Hazy dark golden color with a thin white head that recedes quickly to an outer ring. Stringy lace. Tart fruit, wheat and malt aroma. Light-bodied with flavors of tart passionfruit, lacto and doughy malt. The finish is mildly tart peaches and wheat. Decent overall.

Bottle from Craft Brewed. Pours a hazy peach-gold color with no head. Peach forward aromas with honkeysuckle blossom and passion fruit notes. Very low to no carbonation on the palate. Very restrained tartness, with a passion fruit tang that comes through. As it warms becomes a little too sweet and feels heavy and cloying on the palate. Lingering sweet peach and honey on the finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Passion Fruit-Peach Berliner Weisse on 19 Aug 2018 at 20:15 - Score: 6. Original review text: Lovely peach and passion fruit forward nose. Low carbonation, heavy bodied with sweet peach that starts to get cloying. Lingering fruit

Bottle from Brewcraft at home. Bright yellow pour with no head really but some fine carbonation. Aroma is sharp sour Berliner weisse style crispness - definitely strong passion fruit. Peach not as apparent on the aroma as taste. Taste is tart but rounded by peach sweetness, like a fresh stone fruit. Smooths the edges of a normal Berliner, in a great way. Dry tart finish. Very easy drinking and super juicy. Would get again.
