Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a pitch black with a light brown head. Sweet roasted malt and vanilla in the nose. Very, very solid body - hard roasted malts and vanilla with a touch of wood. Quite some alcohol in the finish. No real bitterness. Imperial Porter territory. 120910

75cl bottle from GBBF drunk at home. Black body with lasting tan head. Smokey tar and some dark choc. So why isn’t this an impy stout? No idea. Some heat on end. I like the choc and its either ginger or the spicy alcohol heat on the finish. I thought that it was pretty decent, alcohol is not all over the place. Some grainyness. As I say I thought that it was ok. Some smoothness in mouth. Like choc covered ginger biscuits.

Pours mahogany-tinged black into a tulip. Off-white head with medium retention recedes to skim surface leaving spot lacing. Chocolate, vanilla and oak aromas. Thick and syrupy with upfront chocolate and espresso turning to licorice in the middle and on to a lasting vanilla oak burn.

Dark roasted malt, coffee, and charred oak nose. Viscous mahogany, thin brown head. Charred oak and currant flavor with a touch of whiskey. Silky mouthfeel with an oak finish. Well assembled, good complexity. Quite a treat.
