This seasonal beer is a limited edition brewed for the short days and long nights of winter. The full body resulting from fermentation in ‘stone Yorkshire squares’ and the luxurious malt character, which will appeal to a broad range of drinkers, is balanced against whole-dried Fuggle and Golding hops with nuances and complexities that should be contemplated before an open fire.

Clear copper colour with lasting head. Aroma and flavour have plenty of sweet malts, raisins and dried apple. Hints of plums too. Floral hop bitterness in the finish. Great balance.

550 ml bottle from Whole Foods, poured clear orange brown with visible carbonation. Medium body. Spices and malt aroma, hops pepper and cloves taste with a bitter spicy finish. Unpleasant aftertaste.

Review based on the BJCP2015 guidelines (style 30C). Bottle 55 cl - Batch L18208 (BBF JULY.19). AROMA: low fruity aroma with slight citrus notes, medium butterscotch, slight background of alcohol. APPEARANCE: deep gold to light amber colour and clear. medium beige head, moussy, with good retention. TASTE: initial medium-low butterscoth note, followed by a low caramel malt background. faint fruitness (orange-like), medium bitterness with a dry and slightly bitter finish. PALATE: medium-light body with medium-low carbonation. OVERALL: a winter ale-type beer without much complexity.

Pours hazy dark amber, coppery, topped with medium large though not so lasting offwhite head. Medium malty nose, biscuity with some honey presence. Medium bitterness, medium malty sweetness, honey finish and peppery, herbal aftertaste, a bit roasty as well. Didn't age perfectly, but still decent. Medium body.
