From the coast of California comes Mind Haze, a free-spirited beer made to elevate your perceptions—juicy yet balanced, hazy yet lasting, and loaded with an imaginative array of tropical hop flavors.

In the words of Brewmaster Matt Brynildson, “Mind Haze offers the best of what you expect from a hazy IPA. But we’re going about it a little differently, and that’s what gives Mind Haze its own unique signature. We’re finally ready to do a hazy IPA the Firestone way.”

355ml can. Poured light yellow in color, some haze. Watery pineapple flavors, quite juicy, with clear pineapple like aroma. Body feels light and overall a light feeling. Refreshing and quite sessionable.

Cloudy golden beer, thick white head. Smell is hoppy fruits: mango, pineapple, some citrus. Flavour has a mix of fruits including grapefruit and the mango again, grassy hops, a little pine in there too. Quite a strong bittersweet finish which makes this one a bit of a sipper if the strength didn't do that already. Pretty tasty.

Can split at James, picked up from the Thornbridge tap room, 19/09/20. Hazed orange to golden with a decent white cap that dissipates in time. Nose is orange pith, light pine, grass, melon. Taste comprises bitter orange, old skool lilt, grass, grapefruit splash, light pine needle. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close spiked with balanced juicy come grassy hop bitterness. Not bad.

440ml canned 2 weeks previously. Seems to be brewed under licence by Thornbridge for UK market, maybe Europe generally. Appearance is hazy orange with frothy head, good retention and lacing; promising. Aroma is tropical but also a denser note of stone fruits, maybe apricot and peach. very pleasant although I'm not noticing the hops being any fresher than typical canned IPAs from supermarkets. Taste is moderate-sweetness, tangy citrus peel, a more earthy/stone fruit note. Moderate bitterness in the finish. Nice and tasty without there being a wow factor. Moderate body, and soft carbonation; very good Overall a good IPA, well worth trying.

Can. Morrison’s. Packaged just over 4 weeks ago, so pretty fresh really, for a £3 supermarket beer. Medium haze on a pale gold. Fairly loose suds of white. Nose has notes of nectarine and sliced peach. Clean malts. Some lemon. Taste has a nice balance of sweet stone fruit, and lemon peel bitterness. Smooth on the palate. Touch of tang. Soft carbonation. Finish is pretty crisp bitter. I’d be happy to fill the fridge with this one.
