Bottle from Royal Mile Whiskies. It pours darkest brown with a medium beige head. The nose is roasty, dark fruit, berry, grape juice, light jamminess, toffee and faint smoke. The taste is toasty, earth, coffee, dark fruit, spice, vinous, toffee, light bitterness, charred wood and some smoke with a very dry finish. Light-medium body and average carbonation. Interesting and enjoyable. A bit more body and this could be great.

500ml Bottle from Appellation Wines. Pours dark brown with tan head, good lacing. Aromas are sweet caramel and light roast. Taste has more sugar, but the bitterness is not quite sufficient to balance things out. Enjoyable beer though.

Cask @ Cloisters [250613]
More tonic wine in the nose...Taste more intense and smoother than bottle...richer body.....yum yum 3.6 to 3.8
Bottle from Beer Hive, Edinburgh [230613] 7/4/7/3/15
Dark caramel ruby brown, big frothy tan head, good lacing
Aroma of caramel, some soft roasted malt, dab of smoke, some raisin, soft dark fruits, background of sweet malts, some charred toast
Taste of caramel malts, fruity red berries, soft roast, soft toffee, dab of smoky wood, getting a hint of the tonic wine with the fruitiness, subtle smoke is good as I’m not a fan of really smoky beers, not sure where the tablet is but prob just adds some sweetness, additions are subtle, good flavour, some very soft bittter hedgerow hop in there, fairly complex
Palate - Medium carb, little over fizzy, thin to medium body - a tad thin. Palate is quite sweet, with some soft roast bitterness. Finish is quite dry, fruity malts, dab of burnt smoke, getting some chcocolate now, clean finish
Overall - Decent 80/- and the additions of tonic wine works well and isn’t gimmicky. Would like to try this cask and see it it has a bit more body

Opaque dark brown beer, good pale cream -tan coloured head. Palate is fairly light, semi dry and has fine carbonation. Light creamy malt, melow smoke, sweet spice and dark fruits. Very slightly sour. Finishes soft with a light carbonated nip and a super mild bitterness.
