Sans Pagaie is our take on the Belgian-style kriek, which is a traditional, sour blonde ale aged in oak barrels with cherries. The word "kriek" actually translates to "cherry" in the Flemish language. Sans Pagaie, our clever moniker for this beer, translates from French to "without a paddle" (see what we did there? Kriek..."without a paddle"... hello, anyone out there?). The base beer has a subtle funk, which melds gently with the fruit giving this beer flavors reminiscent of coconut, vanilla yogurt and, of course, fresh cherries. A complex beer, perfect for a sunny day in the park with a slice of homemade cheesecake.

Reminiscent of a lambic. Moderately tart and cherry is holding up well after three years.

2017 bottle shared at a Lucky Bamboo share. Pours a clearish orange gold with a small white head that dissipates. Acidic fruit on the nose with cherry, redcurrant and oak aromas. Some vanilla and vinegar as it warms. Quite acidic on the palate with some oak and sherry notes that mellow it a bit, but overall fairly tart. Light cherry and red wine vinegar notes. Lingering acidity, citrus, cherry, lactic acid and oak.
Musky on the nose but wonderful cherry sour taste, tart and sweet.

Cherry, lemon & cinnamon nose. Sour & fruity taste. Light dough. Dry, tart & puckering mouth. Nice simple smell but ultimately too sour.
