Can (1/29/20) pour from the brewery. Appearance is opaque black with nice sparkle at the edges of the glass, 1/2 finger crackling foamy light brown head with poor retention and light leggy lacing. Aroma is decadent chocolate, vanilla, mild cinnamon, roasted malt and mild alcohol. Taste is strong initial slightly harsh alcohol/bourbon (calms as it warms), shifting to more mellow, rich vanilla, coffee, chocolate and cinnamon. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with thick, smooth texture, soft, frothy carbonation, mild, pleasant alcohol warmth and chocolate-vanilla-cinnamon-coffee finish. Overall, the bourbon/alcohol in the taste is a bit harsh but calms nicely. The milk sugar adds a nice creamy smoothness. A nice, comforting stout.

From can (label stated 6.6% ABV), shared by Kermis @ Beer Temple. Pours a black colour and a brown head. Aroma's: eh, capers??, sweetish, chocolate, lactose. Retronasal it's sweet, sweet fruit, candy. Flavour is above moderate sweet, hint of mocha. Medium bodied. Finishes roasty. Pretty nice.

Can shared at Aaron's birthday. Pours a deep brown to black with a finger of deep beige head that lingers. Creamy vanilla and coffee aromas with toffee and caramel notes. Sweet but not cloying on the palate. Vanilla is there but used elegantly. More coffee and vanilla latte flavors on the palate. Quite thick and rich on the palate. Great dessert beer, without being overly sweet or cloying. --- Beer merged from original tick of Single Shot - Vanilla Bean on 07 Jun 2019 at 10:32 - Score: 8. Original review text: Late.

January 2019 canning drunk over the course of the next month or so with the final can consumed on 2/9/19.
Milk chocolate-to-dark mahogany, good clarity with ruddy highlights. Large, greyish-tan head slowly fades to a ring.Nose is very rich and quite malty with intense vanilla character adding both spicy and sweet notes. Prune and raisin on the very end begin to balance but it remains quite sweet. No alcohol noted. Must be the additional alcohol in the Double Shot version, as this comes off more sugar-forward than that, to me. Almost syrupy with milk chocolate, fudge and vanilla with a smattering of light roast and mild dark fruit acidity. Low, engaging carbonation and a very soft, nearly syrupy texture. Lingering roast and earth is nice, but it's still extremely sweet and very vanilla-forward.

Pours a deep, dark brown, with minimal head. Aroma has hints of coffee, chocolate, and dark fruit. Flavor is marked by coffee, chocolate, a touch of vanilla, and some licorice. Very smooth mouthfeel and finish. Well-made stout.

Thanks Mike for the can! Poured into a snifter showing pitch black with sparse latte colored foam. The nose shows strong roasted coffee with notes of vanilla in between. The palate is light bodied and well carbonated. Flavors of strong espresso brightened with intermittent notes of vanilla. Finish is a perfect mocha caramel bitterness. This is beautiful.
