750 ml bottle. Pours a dark reddish copper color with a medium white head. A big yeasty and berry nose. The flavor is dry, berries, some smoke, caramel, toffee. Quite nice. Mellow. A bit of heat. Almost like a Quad.

Draft at Beer Run, 12/26/13. Pours a hazy copper color with a thin ring of tan head. Fair head retention. Aroma of tart fruits, toffee, booze. Taste is citrus, berries, toasted malts, toffee, candied citrus, mild booze. Medium bodied, slight head, low carbonation.

Draft at Rustico - Alexandria. Poured a dark amber color with a small white head. Aroma was notes of sweet malts, plenty of juicy fruit notes. Flavor had notes of various berries - gooseberries, cherries. Candi sugar notes. Actually pretty enjoyable, though perhaps a bit too sweet.

From a 75 cl bottle shared in Avon NC. Pours a hazy brown with an off white head. Caramel nose. Flavors of tart fruit with some allspice. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Slightly funky tart finish.

Bottle in Vail shared with jcnielsen picked up at Wilbur’s Fort Collins. Pours a murky orangish brown appearance with a brown head. Spicy orange citrusy, bready yeasty, a bit dark fruity, a touch metallic aroma. Toasted caramel malty, rich red grape, plum, slight citrusy, fairly sweet, kind of twangy, boozy flavor. Too strong for my taste but honestly, I’m not really a fan of the flavor anyhow.

750 ml bottle. Aroma is full of dark fruit, cola, caramel, toffee, earth, booze. Pours hazy dark orange with a two finger beige head with great retention. Taste is sweet and sour with lots of booze. Not too bad, but the booziness is astringent. This could definitely use some time in the cellar to mellow out.

On tap at Bailey's, pours a dark orangey amber with medium beige head. Aroma brings out hazelnuts and some dark fruity notes. Flavour is similar, bringing out toasted hazelnuts, dry caramel, and some fruitiness. This sixth version of the series is loads better than fifth, but still not very sophisticated. Decent for the Bruery, but nothing special.

Pours a murky dark amber/brown with a huge off white head that tries to escape from the bottle as soon as I pop the cork. Aromas of caramel and sweet brown sugar, tart berry, cherry and plum, rounded off by a hint of ethanol, and clove and earthy yeast phenols. Sweet sugary malt offset with tart berries, alcohol and cherries. Light spicy phenols and a touch of alcohol provide hints of balance. Medium to thick body with a moderate to high level of carbonation and a sweet syrup and bubbly mouthfeel. Wow that one is actually pretty damn good. I haven’t enjoyed one of the Bruery’s 12 days beers this much since 2 turtle doves. Nice balance of sweet and tart with just enough spice to remind you its Belgian inspired.

Capped 750 from the Arden BevMo. Pours a hazy, very dark ruddy orange with a foamy/creamy light tan head. Lots of dark fruit in the aroma. Full bodied, or nearly. Flavor is slightly sweet dark malt with cherry/prune and something that seems to have a citrus bite. Not getting much yeast per se, but guessing it’s donating fruity esters. It’s not really dry, but not all that sweet. Does seem to dry out with time, and the cherry aspect is clearer. Good stuff. With thought, leather/tobacco could be in it. Not a simple flavor profile.
