Day 2 of the post Xmas Bamberg Jolly, Cafe Abseits Tasting bottle thanks to our Kenneth who peddles the Bruery in more than one country, 25/01/14. Murky orange amber with a moderate off white swirl/edgework. Nose is bitter fruits, light pear drops, sweet notes, spice, booze. Taste comprises dark fuits, sweet, dates, bitter orange, toffee, booze. Full bodied, fine carbonation, booze laden closure. Drinkable but ultimately falls short, lacks depth for ABV, not the best from the Bruery.

Draft - Sweet Belgian yeast and sour berry. Cloudy copper with a thin beige head. Rich sark spices Belgian, sweet and a touch of sour. Not really my thing, sark Belgians with this much sweetness and berry just doesn’t work for my palate.

Bottled. A hazy red beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of malt and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, over ripe fruits, and a bit of brettanomyces, leading to a dry finish.

Pours hazy mahogany into a tulip. White head with good retention recedes to skim surface. Dark caramel and pit fruit aromas. Thick and boozy with molasses and plum upfront turning to warming brown bread in the lasting finish.

On tap at Red Hen DC. Pours a murky amber with some creamy, white head. Nose is malt, candy sugar, some dried fruit, mild spice. Flavor is berry, candy sugar, spice. Nothing really stands out. Thick, boozy finish. This whole series has just not thrilled me.
