This big mother of a Russian Imperial Stout is often considered one of our true classics. Despite the 13% ABV, you'll find Black Albert to be dangerously drinkable. With its thick, tar-like body, it's definitely a sipper, but the alcohol is very well-hidden.

(Thanks, Gene! "Travlr") A- Dark fruits, red wine, booze, oak. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Red wine, chocolate cake, dark fruits, booze, subtle sourness. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, strong finish. O- While I would say that this certainly doesn’t live up to expectations, it was still good. And it did have like 8 years of age on it. According to the Lot B/06/BB, it was from 2008 so hey, age effects things. Not a lot of coffee or cocoa that I expect in an Imperial Stout but it was a good beer.

Tap@Mikkeller Bar, Copenhagen - black pour with no head. Aroma and taste is a mix of sweet and roasty malts, some solid chocolate bitterness, oily mouthfeel, dark roasty finish. Great stuff. ---Sent via Beer Buddy for iPhone

23/10/2013 @home - 33cl bottle form Bierhalle Deconinck, Vichte. Black without very nice dark brown head. Nose is roasted malt and massive alcohol. Taste however is amazing. Roasted, mocha, chocolate, karamel, toffee, licorice, soft, silky, oily in the mouth. Simply amazing

F: dark brown creamy, quite long lasting. C: dark brown to black, non-transparent. A: malty, vanilla, black chocolate, coffee, candy, dark fruits, floral hops, hint of yeast. T: chocolate, coffee/mocha, caramel, dry fruits like plums, cherries, dry coffee bitterness on the palate, fruit cake, molasses, full body, low carbonation, hint of woody/earthy tones, oily mouthfeel, yes great imperial stout, worth to try in long winter evenings.

330ml bottle at home shared with gf. Vintage 2015. BB 05/2020. black color, dark coffee-colored head. pours quite oily. smells of coffee, light charcoal but with a sweet twist, earthy, light glue note, bitter chocolate. lovely smell. full body, soft carbonation, oily / quite creamy mouthfeel. tastes of coffee, a bit lactic / creamy, bitter chocolate, some wood, some dried fruits, earthy notes, light sourish, a bit glue-like (probably from the alcohol), nice roast notes, also some banana and resins. finishes with roast, alcohol, earthy and light notes of charcoal. lovely stuff, surprisingly drinkable for the freshness (especially compared to other imp stouts).

330 ml bottle 2015 vintage from Etre Gourmet.
Pitch black body, with a big, dense, creamy, coffee-colored head.
Aroma of dark chocolate, espresso, cocoa, caramel, some vanilla, dark fruits, wood, slight tobacco.
Delicious taste of espresso, cocoa powder, dark chocolate, tobacco, some liquorice, dark and dried fruits, citric hops in the background.
Medium, creamy mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes smooth, quite dry, roasty, a bit bitter, with coffee, cocoa, tobacco, some liquorice, some fruit notes and a subtle alcohol warmth.
Very tasty. Drinks suprisingly easy for the ABV, which is almost completely hidden. Really smooth and complex, with a wonderful balance between roasty, sweet and dry, even with a moderate hop presence. Overall still not among my favourite Imperial Stouts, but my favourite Struise beer so far.
