Drought @ Rattle’N’Hum .Dark amber-brown with medium sized creamy beige head, faint caramel aroma, low carbonation, spicy taste (nutmeg?) with Belgian yeast characteristics, caramelized malt in the background, thin body, medium bitter finish. Nice abbey double.

Bottle from Beers Of Europe. Clear amber/brown body with a thick beige head. Lively carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of sawdust, leather and fudge. Flavour of caramel, yeast, fig, black pepper and a hint of smoke. Medium body with a foamy mouthfeel. Very fizzy. A tasty malty beer.

Bouteille 330ml. De couleur brune-cuivrée et voilée. Nez de levures fruitées (prunes, notes de raisins vineux, de cerises et de figues), de sucre brun doux avec des petites notes rôties et de réglisse noire. Moyennement ronde en bouche et moyennement pétillante avec une texture légèrement crémeuse. Goût de levures assez fruitées aux petites notes acides (prunes, figues, notes de raisins) avec un très léger goût épicé (clou de girofle) et de réglisse noire lors de l’entrée en bouche suivi d’un goût malté de caramel doux légèrement rôti avec un léger goût de sucre brun ainsi que des notes de pain grillé puis finalement l’on retrouve un goût légèrement amer d’alcool doux avec quelques notes de chocolat noir et de houblon herbeux. New Beer Distributors, NY 33cl ($5.25): Pours a brown color with a tan head. Aroma is a load of fruity maltiness, with some spice, mostly anise methinks. Taste is pretty sweet. A bunch of light licorice notes... pretty noticeable, but not extreme. Tiny bit of hops. Pleasant body. An interesting dubbel.

750 ml bottle into signature chalice, no bottle dating. Cork was a battle to remove on this one. Pours hazy and cloudy dark ruby red color with a 1-2 finger dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big raisin, apple, caramel, brown sugar, molasses, toffee, toast, fig, brown bread, floral, pepper, light clove, and yeast earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark malt and fruity/spicy ester notes. Taste of raisin, apple, caramel, toast, toffee, brown sugar, molasses, fig, brown bread, floral, pepper, clove, and yeast earthiness. Lingering notes of dark fruit, caramel, toast, toffee, molasses, brown bread, floral, pepper, clove, and earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and complexity of dark malt and fruity notes; with a good sweet/peppery ester balance; and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a creamy, fairly slick, and lightly prickly mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very nice Dubbel. Nice balance and complexity of fruity and malt flavors; and very smooth to sip on. A very enjoyable offering.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Hogerdijk. Brown with a beige head. Caramel aroma with ginger cookies. Taste is bittersweet with some red fruits. Aftertaste is full and satisfactory. Good dubbel.

Refrigerated 11.2 oz. brown bottle poured into a trappist glass. Pours opaque dark brown with translucent light brown highlights and small off-white head. Good small bubble lacing, medium body, well carbonated, and dark candy sugar. Taste is dark candy sugar, dark fruit (mostly fig), and hop finish.
