This brown ale has a marked ruby brown colour with a gen-erous and lasting head. It has a distinctive aroma reflecting the wide range of ingredients used in its production. The fruitiness resulting from its fermentation blends harmoni-ously with a dominant liquorice and caramel flavour. The body is decidedly malty. The bitterness is the result of a complex alchemy between the fine hops and special malts used. These give St-Feuillien Brune a typical dark chocolate appearance. This beer creates an endless variety of sensations with a lingering taste and powerful aroma.

The smell and taste aren’t really special in my opinion. I do like the dark brown color, specially when a deep dark red glare comes through.

I like this brewery, but brune/abbey double isn’t my favorite style. Hence the low score. Do love the colour though!

Bottle from Asao. Rich chocolate and caramel aroma, chewy and nice, with spices, raisin and dried plum, and a touch of citrus. Dark brown with lots of scarlet and a high tan head. Rich and malty, caramel, dried fruits, spice. Fruity and a bit tangy in the finish with but noticeable bitterness. Better than expected from them--a nice bruin/dubbel.

bottle@home: dark amber/brown colour with a decent head, tastes strongly of sweet malt, brown sugar & raisins with minor toffee & caramel, noticeable alcohol, creamy, full dody, feels a bit stronger than what you would usually expect of a dubbel, great thing here because it comes with added complexity & flavour

Bottle@Radisson Royal Hotel Bar, Copenhagen. Reddish brown pour with a medium size fading tan head. Nose was dark fruit ,caramel malt and brown sugar. Quite lively carbonation. Flavour was malt driven and began sweet, then some fruitiness and booze arrived. A little earthyness and a vague metallic tang lurking too. Dryish slightly spicy finish. Hadn’t tried one of these in years and although its not without some redeeming qualities its pretty run of the mill stuff.
