This brown ale has a marked ruby brown colour with a gen-erous and lasting head. It has a distinctive aroma reflecting the wide range of ingredients used in its production. The fruitiness resulting from its fermentation blends harmoni-ously with a dominant liquorice and caramel flavour. The body is decidedly malty. The bitterness is the result of a complex alchemy between the fine hops and special malts used. These give St-Feuillien Brune a typical dark chocolate appearance. This beer creates an endless variety of sensations with a lingering taste and powerful aroma.

Sample at Ale Wine & Spirits in Powell on 02/09/2012. Hazy reddish-brown pour with a medium off-white head that evaporates steadily. Partial rings of lacing. Aroma of yeast, caramel malt and fruit. Medium body with flavors of sweet malt and caramel, dark fruit and yeast. The finish is malty with a yeast and ripe fruit aftertaste. Above average overall.

75 cl bottle @ home, BBE 12.11.2010
Aroma has ripe fruits, candi sugar and toffee typical to aged belgian ales. Flavour is rather sugary and rich on toffee. Also some caramel, brown sugar and orange peel. Causes yeasty burps. Foamy palate. Way too sweet stuff, this really was better before the BBE date.

33cl bottle. Poured a brown coloured beer with a good formation of a frothy, creamy and tan head. Nice lacework on the glass. Aroma is caramelish, sweet, alcoholic and yeasty. Flavour has dry fruits notes, yeasty, bready, spicy, candy sugar and chocolate with milk traces. The final is moderate bitter/moderate sweet; excellent balance. Carbonation is medium. Body is medium to high. Texture is oily.

Flaske 0,33l på Bierbrasserie Cambrinus i Brugge 4 Mai 11. Dyp brun - nesten sort. OK svakt farget skum. Frisk maltaroma. Malt dominerer også smaken. Vel søt. Uvariert.

Pour is a dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is sweet caramel with from fruit and vinegar. Flavor is dark fruit with some spice and a nice chocolate after the swallow. Very good dubbel with something coming out different after each sip.

The smell and taste aren’t really special in my opinion. I do like the dark brown color, specially when a deep dark red glare comes through.
