Bottle. Almost black, with a huge tan head (rocking and growing) and a fountain of furious bubbles. Wild-looking! Aroma of chocolate, licorice, anise, raisin, spiced plums, dried fruit, maple syrup. Very spicy. Huge spice flavor as well: licorice, anise, cinnamon. Very sweet, with caramel, chocolate, wood, maple syrup. The woody, roasty finish tries to balance the sweetness but can’t. Fruit-cake-like. Too much.

(bottle, 33cl, BB Nov. 2011) Hazy, ruby coloured and particle-laden hue with a big and tanned foamy head. Sweet, mildly toasted malty and slightly syrupy aroma with notes of red berries, a tinge of caramel and cacao powder. Slightly sweet and quite sour flavour, medium to full bodied with a moderate carbonation. Sourish fruit-accented taste that covers almost everything else, except for light hints of dark malt and caramel; sourish fruity finish. Most probably this one was already over the edge and therefore needs a re-rate. 04.XII.09

33cl bottle @ DHVL. Pours brown with a creamy white head and lacings. Sweet nose and taste of caramel and syrup. Sweet pear and rye-bread. Medium bodied. Drinkable but will never be a favorite.

bottle, pours light redish brown, tall tan head, tons of floaties. Yeast and prune mixed with some spice aroma. Slightly malty sweet with a bitter sour grapefruit kindof finish. Some alcohol burn and a peppery spice in the finish. A good sipper.

Bottle, Red Zebra, Derby. Somewhat hazy recollection of this effort, as the last beer of a good session, but I don’t think anything truly memorable happened here. Dark brown and somewhat excessively sweet were my enduring and only memories.
